Frontier share prices tumble due to slow sales of multiple titles on PC, while sales of the new console generation breaks records

Frontier share prices have taken a dive and they are essentially blaming slow sales of JWE2 and Odyssey and more specifically they are citing poor sales on the PC platform. In the meantime sales of the new console generation continues to break records in terms of volume and game sales on both XBox and Playstation.

There's an easy answer to this problem within all of this, isn't there?

Do you console CMDRs think that this will spur Frontier to ..

a) bring forward plans for Odyssey on console?
b) about face and target the current generation of consoles for Odyssey with a native version including upgraded textures, resolution options, etc?
c) implement commonly requested console features such as cross play and more flexible controller support?

No
Possibly
Possibly

Not quite sure why record-breaking console sales are included in this but ok. It certainly didn't help their projections for sales of JWE2 given the statement says sales were about where they expected them on those platforms.

Cross-Play is very bad idea.

Not sure about that. This galaxy needs more commanders. Frontier are clearly pushing the social aspect of the game more recently, e.g. releasing a new multi crew SRV and adding extra seats to some ships.

If controller flexibility is addressed, so that the PvP concerns are minimised (level playing field) I don't see the issue with it.

Most modern multi player games these days are utilising cross play. There are no licensing concerns outside of free to play games. Microsoft are clearly heading in the platform agnostic direction to.

It's not the future, it's here now. Commanders need to unite and put to bed past indiscretions such as platform wars. Let's band together!

Don't confuse crossplay with PvP.

Even then, I'm not sure it's that much of a concern if the controller options are extended. Indeed, controller disparity exists on PC and it doesn't stop people from engaging in PvP.

Then the question becomes about FPS advantage, but I'm not convinced that's much of a concern in this game.

For what it's worth, I hope the current and un-precedented share price situation spurs some investment and action in unifying the platforms and shoring up the previously under-developed console focus for this game. Perhaps I'll make a recommendation to the shareholders as a business analyst. ;)

I was surprised to discover this week that you can cross-play with pc and console players on BF2042 and I believe there is no m/k support on consoles. I even use a controller on PC BF2042.

So yea the cross-play disparity between controllers, m/k and hotas is a fairly weak argument imo.

EDO is a mess on PC, its going to require multiple patches which on console would be a nightmare to submit, taking ages and ages before being validated and deployed. And as we all know point updates for the patches are often required compounding the issue even more.

While I'd love cross play (esp.from a Powerplay context) any console version is just not going to happen until EDO can run on low spec hardware, or that FD know if will run at all on PS 4 / XB1 hardware.

Once an actual efficiently running EDO is done will FD even think about consoles.

Frontier, the company with the can't do attitude!

Can't do a competent expansion release
Can't do a VR version of Odyssey
Can't do a console version of Odyssey
Can't do ship interiors
Etc.

They can do it, it would just take time or simply they are pushing too hard for too many things- or that money decisions overruled technical reality.

Good job they didn't do pre-orders for console.
