Just two things, though: now that we have the blank slate option for terrain, can we please PLEASE get it for research and expeditions as well? There've been so many requests for it already and it'd be a real shame if the option to build a park completely from scratch, while unlocking everything there is along the way, wouldn't make it in.

And the second thing: are there any words on placable foliage? It was such a disappointment to see that wasn't in the game after we finally got it in an update for the first. There just isn't much you can do with a handful of rocks and a few plant brushes that can't even be combined to make more lush, interesting looking forests and parks.
Hey Nioell!

We don't have anything to announce about these features.
So I wonder, was it always three eras since day 1, or is this new era going to be a part of this update?
We're adding in DFW buildings for Sandbox, so you could say we're adding in a new "era" in this update. Though "theme" or "building set" would be more accurate.
Zoidberg voice Hooray! So, when do we get to see the new JP Lagoon and Aviary?
Wait and see... ;)

Thanks for the update, some things we really need are :

1) More Decorations- what we have is a good start but we would need many many more to make our parks truly unique- please add as many as you can!
2) More Scenery Options- individual trees, logs, etc are really needed

Please forward this to your development team because these changes should be relatively not too difficult to implement as 2) was already in the first game and 1) is just expanding what is already there, but would make such a massive difference to all of us players

Thanks!

This is all really amazing stuff that should've been in at launch, happy it's later than never ofc, but there's still the lack of customizable Challenge Mode! We're still limited for how we get to play a Challenge Park, it lacks so much replayability. Having those campaign maps for Challenge Mode, being able to decide limits, risks, starting cash, what species we can or can't use, and being able to choose between JP, JW, and DPG era would all be amazing changes! Please add stuff like that next!

Great update! Wasn't even expecting this much tbh. Still no news about the Ludodactylus (aka JP3 Pteranodon) though.
Just disappointed that dinos such as Concavenator or Utahraptor didn't make it into the Early Cretaceous pack. Would have been perfect with them..

But Disease and storm frequency was not changed on Hard mode? You still have locked family trees of skins behind hard mode. If these were unlockable by medium difficulty it wouldn't be a problem. However no rebalancing to hard mode will still make it tedious and difficult for players to get those skins.
Hard mode is.... hard for obvious reasons.
Goodness, this level of yammering in this forum sometimes.

Wow! So basically everything that the community asked for, you're giving to us for free in the first update! I don't know what else to say...

Jens, please pass on our appreciation to the dev team!

I definitely will!

Seconded! This update is MASSIVE and addresses nearly every issue that's been raised so far. In fact, the only two left I can think of is placeable trees/logs and the hit box issue where it needs to be just a little smaller (see the free build mod for what I mean) so we can fuse rocks and such together or put placeable trees (in the future where hopefully they get added) together with rocks and the planters and lights to make unique decorative arrangements to really spice up the parks/facilities.

Well done indeed!

Ooooooo, this makes me all tingly. All five Campaign maps is going to be really fun, especially Yosemite if we're allowed to build in the entire area we can drive around in during the campaign. Love for our pterabros with the rock perching, gonna be making much greater use of the big rocks in the aviaries for them. Flat naked maps for Sandbox is a godsend. Three eras of building styles is excellent, and thank you so much for JP-era lagoons and aviaries. Thank god for the pack hunting rebalance, that was all a wee bit silly. So much care for the game and players, thank you tons, Frontier!

Hopefully they'll fix the problem with the JPIII Pteranodon by the next update, and while I'm eager for the individual trees and other decorations it's understandable that we'll have to wait, especially if Frontier is doing different options in equal amounts for all five biomes and all three eras, that's a lot of work.

Sad to hear that, but thanks for the answer. Here's hoping you'll have something to announce about these features sometime in the (hopefully near) future since a lot of players would very much appreciate this added layer of gameplay and replayability.

A mode similar to challenge, but without an specific to that map species pool, but the ability to research, excavate and release any species in the game (as well as researching park stuff, cosmetics, upgrades...) would be neat.

Truth to be told, the "manage several parks at once, unlocking stuff as you progress, but feel free to go back to an older park" from the previous game was awesome for progression; Claire being a separate campaign felt kinda like a waste, and that model of everything being a separate endeavor in this game feels TO ME like a bit of a downgrade.

Hello Park Managers!

Grab your Ranger Gear, because we're heading out on an archeological dig! We're excited to announce the Early Cretaceous Pack coming to Jurassic World Evolution 2 on 9 December. The Early Cretaceous Pack adds two new land dinosaurs, one new flying reptile, and one new marine reptile to the game, all from the Early Cretaceous Era.

You'll be getting to know Wuerhosaurus, Minmi, Dsungaripterus and Kronosaurus a little better over the next week, but you can check out the Species Field Guide for Kronosaurus in the video below:

If you find yourself in Hyde Park in London on 8 and 9 December, you can see the Kronosaurus come to life over the Serpentine during the evening, after sunset.

Releasing alongside the Early Cretaceous Pack is free Update 1! The Jurassic World Evolution 2 team has been hard at work making this world evolved even bigger than before. Update 1 will introduce more playable maps, more building sets, rock perch points for flying reptiles, and several other quality of life changes. and bug fixes. Read on to learn more:

DFW/JP Building Sets

Buildings and fences from the Department of Fish and Wildlife will be available in Sandbox Mode starting from 9 December. If you enjoyed the campaign mode and wanted to continue building using the DFW's building set, you'll be able to use them very very soon. Update 1 includes a full set of DFW buildings, from Restrooms and Lagoons, to Hotels and Viewing Platforms. We're also releasing additional Jurassic Park themed buildings, specifically Lagoons and Aviaries, so you can have marine and flying reptiles in your Jurassic Park era Sandbox.

Campaign Sandbox Levels

After Update 1 you can use the five campaign maps in Sandbox Mode. Revisit the Arizona desert, the Washington State mountains, the Pennsylvania airport, the forests of Oregon, and Yosemite National park in Sandbox and create some amazing dinosaur parks or facilities. We can't wait to see what you build in these locations. Which map will you build on first?

Flattened Sandbox Levels

Do you prefer to start with a blank slate in Sandbox Mode? After Update 1 you can! When you start up Sandbox Mode you will now have the option to start with a completely flat, tree-less version of any map. You can then modify the map topography and flora as you wish!

Rock Perch Points

Speaking of flying reptiles: they can now perch on rocks placed inside an Aviary, letting you and your guests appreciate their majesty when they rest between flights.

Balance Changes

We've done a few changes to game balancing based on some of your feedback. The frequency of storms and disease outbreaks in Chaos Theory should be less frequent after this patch, as should disease outbreaks in Easy and Medium difficulty Challenge levels. We've also made some tweaks to the Dominance stat, which should cut down on dinosaur fights, as well as decreased the likelihood of dinosaur fights causing injuries. Finally, we've rebalanced the combat stats of dinosaurs that can be involved in group hunts.

Accessibility Additions

Update 1 also comes with several accessibility additions. We've added in different subtitle colours for each speaker, an adjustable autosave frequency, and the game can be paused during cutscenes.

The DLC and free Update 1 will release on 9 December at 14:00 GMT, or at the following times in the time zones listed below:
  • 15:00 CET
  • 09:00 EST
  • 06:00 PST
  • 01:00 AET (on 10th Dec)
We hope you're looking forward to all these new changes and additions. Update 1 will come with various other tweaks and bug fixes, and the full list of patch notes will be released on launch, 9 December. Let us know what you think in the comments below! Be sure to keep an eye out on our socials for more information and screenshots about the dinosaurs and reptiles from the Early Cretaceous Pack. You can follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, or join the discussions on our forums!
Thank you for this Jens. Lots of welcome additions here, some very surprising (the flattened map, that is interesting).

And yes, the complete JP set will be super welcome. I'm also surprised about the DFW! but Iook forward to it.

Still hoping for more Marine Reptile animations and engagements and risk, but a man can dream. The 9th can't come soon enough.

Are some of the old RtJP skins coming back too?

Thank you for your hard Work Frontier. I can't wait to get the early Cretaceous pack as well as the update from my copy of Jurassic world Evolution 2. The maps from campaign are so cool I especially love the campaign of fall Pennsylvania map as well and I can't wait to play on that one thank you so much and now my pterosaurus can now rest on my lovely rocks in their enclosures thank you again 🙂.

This kind of my request for sandbox maps around the world-JWE2
As for maps around the world I'm still hoping that New Zealand-Ancient Forests, Madagascar-unique desert environments, Australia-the Red sands and eucalyptus Forest, and even Japan-cherry blossom Forest are considered for sandbox maps aswell. This is basically my wish list for Frontier for sandbox maps I hope make it in Evolution 2 Soon. Also the return of turning off combat.
