Arf's Holiday Message

I hope there is a lot more than fleet carrier interiors....

Fleet carrier interiors are cool and all that, but I don't and will never own a Fleet carrier. So after one walk around one i'll think 'eh..cool' and then that will be it for me. What on gods earth am I going to need a fleet carrier interior for? How will that make me play the game more? As for a new SRV, meh, I'll probably use it once or twice.

I hope they are holding back on much bigger things.... Ive not went back to the game in weeks because it's just been ground hog day.

Sorry to sound so pessimistic.... feeling a bit deflated if anything but I will tune into the stream.

Exactly, this !!!
In facts, I feel that even the PC players should be on our side. It has to do with fairness and respect among ED players, not do demand new shiny features until all brothers and sisters are EDO-wise on board.
thats the point, they want it all and they want it now. we are begging for updates whilst PC players are demanding (and getting it) new content

It depends on how customisable they are. If they can be decorated, imma start a design rating blog. Just fly around all the rich mfers carriers and write up short b*tchy articles.

honestly, i don't think the CM's care too much, they always slip up about upcoming things, never once have they about consoles. they know whats going on and they are playing the game with Fdev
That's true, but the CMs can only share what they're allowed to share. Some things may be okay to slip up, but if their managers have completely shut them down on any sort of console development news there's not much they can do.

Afraid I'm going to have to have a bit of a rant here ..... As a console user, I and many others are getting more than hacked off with the radio silence around the console release. When Odyssey was launched, and it suffered the plethora of issues, you (as in frontier) stated you were putting console development on hold so you can get the PC version right. Myself, and many others, were not happy at this but saw the reasons why this call was made, and accepted it. Now almost 8 months down the line, the PC version is in a much better place, but instead of now releasing a console version, you are now ADDING NEW FEATURES to the PC version!! This is just not on mate! We were patient once, but patience is wearing very thin. I think the only thing keeping many of us console users interested in Elite is the fact that there's no real alternative on our platform. If Star Citizen existed on console, we'd probably be out the door. However, the clock is ticking and Bethesda's StarField is a-coming......

You need to tell us what is going on.......
I doubt they actually adding anything, just fixing all the stuff that should have been at launch.

Have to say I'm pretty dispondant from that end of year message not even a slight hint of anything to do with console, and I'm not just talking about Odyssey though I am presuming Fleet Carrier Interiors and the New Srv are not for console. I mean is it too much to even mention the word anymore, Just over three months ago it was asked if anything was being thought of to "keep the console community engaged" whilst all this Odyssey stuff was going on. it was relayed that yes there was but not presently as "not at a stage to do this effectively" evidently the end of the year (well almost) is also not an appropriate point to do so.
Really do love this game and I get the "Focus" is needed but does that mean that consoles no longer even get mentioned except for the occasional nod on stream to say we haven't forgotten about you apparently this includes feedback about bug fixes.
Recently I considered leaving the Elite community but was talked out of it by someone who was convinced we would get an end of year mention after six months, but yeah message is loud, clear and has been received.......Communication / Involvement wanted (Again not just Odyssey) get a pc.

Don't doubt everybody is at full chat at the moment trying to get things done just feel something could be done for the console community even if its just a gesture.

Anyways gotta finish on a festive note hope all of Fdev have a great Xmas and New Year with a few crackers along the way, have a good one @Arthur Tolmie @sallymorganmoore @Bruce G @Zac Cocken and all others o7 🎄

Will they be able to unlock the AX weapon limit when you already have guardian weapons installed? More than anything for the cmdr's who want to join the crusade, it would be ideal in ships such as cutter, corvette, t10, artillery weapons and apart from the 4 guardian weapons for the main cmdr, so we can use more the ship in multicrew against thargoides, and if possible add custom engineering for guardian weapons

Greetings Commanders,

As we approach the end of the year, I thought I would do something different. Instead of the usual Development Update, I would like to show more than tell; specifically around Fleet Carriers! We will have a full Development Update in January 2022, and lay out our plans for communicating with you through updates, streams and social channels.

Update 9

Update 9 is planned for release next week, with full patch notes published on the same day. Once we have a confirmed date and time we will of course let you know! Here are the highlights of what Update 9 will bring:
  • New Twin-Seat Combat Multicrew SRV
  • Mission extensions
  • Multi Limpet Controller
This update will also include a plethora of fixes and tweaks, including (but not limited to) the following:
  • Issues relating to inactive AI at conflict zones will now be resolved.
  • Issues relating to hatch breaker limpets when used on cargo hatch or escape pods on non-dockable megaships (Odyssey and Horizons)
  • Thermal Conduit no longer has the incorrect damage increase and is correctly represented visually.
  • Completing high influence missions will now affect Background Simulation as expected.
  • Stations no longer 'pop' into existence when jumping out of supercruise
One of the tweaks we have looked at based on your feedback is atmospheric lighting. I would like to share some before and after pictures of what you can expect with Update 9. These lighting effects will be noticeable when stars are low on the horizon.

My thoughts on next year

One of the biggest aspects coming in 2022, literally and figuratively, is the addition of Fleet Carrier interiors. There is a huge amount that the team have been working on regarding this, so as promised we would much rather show you!

Join us on December 16th for our Christmas stream! This will be our last stream of the year and we want it to be special. Along with the usual fun you would expect for our end of year stream, we will be taking you on a tour around a Fleet Carrier interior for the first time. We will also be joined by a member of the development team to help us answer as many of your questions as we can.

Please remember that what we show will very much be work in progress and not final. There will also be some elements we will not show, as we feel some things are best experienced in-person, such as the all-important jump...

Outside of Fleet Carrier interiors, the development team are hard at work on new features and mission types, such as settlement defence that I cannot wait to share more on. We are also reviewing and assessing a number of areas that you have raised, such as the Engineering process, but as I said, I will leave those details for January!

One thing I am particularly excited for is the conclusion of the Azimuth Saga. We have been delighted to see our community engaging with this story arc and we cannot wait to expand on it ;). The narrative team and I are excited to entertain, perplex and thrill you with what we have in store next year!

It is fair to say this has been a challenging year for Elite Dangerous but we are proud and grateful of our community. It is our community’s continued love and support that drives us forward each and every day. To quote the first American female astronaut in space and physicist, Sally Ride - “The stars don’t look bigger, but they do look brighter.”

From the team and I, and all of us here at Frontier: have a wonderful holiday and we will see you in black!

O7 Commanders

Really disappointed that no mention of console release despite talking about next year.
