❄️ Planet Zoo: Europe Pack arriving 14 December ❄️

...How? All of the animals are found across Europe.
Here I'm referring to the fallow deer. It's ranges are as follow:
Dama_dama_map.png

  1. Unquestionably native
  2. Native status unknown (either the earliest introductions or early Holocene range)
  3. Introductions before 1900
  4. Introductions from 1900 onward
So either Frontier is banking on early Holocene ranges for the Mediterranean, or they consider Turkey to be part of Europe.

This isn't entirely correct - it's presumed to be native in the Mediterranean region.

In any case, it's been in mainland Europe for so long that it's a naturalised species so I don't think Frontier is making a political statement one way or the other (and part of Turkey is unquestionably in Europe).

Everything in the update looks great again, no surprise there and I'm hoping for some generic pieces we can use all over the place and not just for themed stuff and more foliage is always great :D Though, I can't help also being a little disappointed that there isn't a little...well, more to it.

Like someone mentioned playgrounds earlier and that's something I'm really missing in my zoos as well. This pack would've been a great opportunity to include them and give us a few more things to play with, because they're very common in zoos around here. I've actually never been to a zoo here that didn't have at least one if not several and it just would be such a nice addition to have for our guests, especially the kids.

Turkey is located in both the continent Europe and Asia. Same as Russia and some other countries. I mean... Turkey even participated for a short time in the Eurovision Songcontest.

Speaking of which... maybe the music making animals is also a hint toward Eurovision and its goal celebrating through music haha

Quite a long time actually, debuting in 1975 and most recently competing in 2012. I won’t go into their withdrawal…

Eurovision participation is actually based on being situated in the European Broadcasting Area which includes North Africa (Morocco entered in 1980, Tunisia almost entered once) and parts of the Middle East (Israel enter, Lebanon almost entered once) or being invited like Australia.

Europe’s borders aren’t fixed and some argue that Europe is a cultural construct as much as a geographic one. Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Cyprus, Turkey and Russia for example are all countries which are at times politically, culturally and sportingly European but arguably partially or wholly located in Asia. There’s really no clear definition.

And to respond to @Mjmannella it’s clearly entirely reasonable to include the fallow deer as a European species. Even for someone like me who is obsessed with facts, pedantic and autistic!

I think you wanted to quote @Peythur , not me. :ROFLMAO:

That'd be a great thing to add in a pack. My zoo has a big, gorgeous carousel and I'd be thrilled to get one in PZ, but that might be difficult for them to make. Some playground equipment would be cute, though.

Also, a bakery that sells bread and soft pretzels, perhaps.

Hayo Zookeepers!

Pack your warmest coat as you get ready to discover the charms of Europe ❄️ Travel across alpine mountain tops and through dense forests in a European winter tale like no other with the latest Planet Zoo pack!

We're thrilled to announce the Planet Zoo: Europe Pack will be available to buy on 14 December, 2021 releasing alongside free update 1.8.

Excited to find out which wonderful animals you'll be meeting in this pack? Look no further! We'll be introducing you to the Eurasian Lynx, the Alpine Ibex, the European Badger, the European Fallow Deer, and a hot new exhibit animal, the Fire Salamander, all of which will have their own requirements and challenges as you incorporate them into your zoos. Plus you'll get to see the European Badger resting in its burrows! We can't wait to see what kind of incredible habitats you're able to create for these new additions.

All the avid builders out there are in for a real treat, too: the addition of over 250 new scenery pieces, inspired by various European countries and cultures. You'll discover pieces influenced by Italy, France, Germany, The Netherlands, and Switzerland, as well as winter-themed scenery that will leave your zoo feeling super cosy. Plus, you'll notice lots of water and bridge theming throughout the new pieces, as well as some new foliage.

You'll also be able to challenge yourself with a brand new Timed Scenario, set in the foothills of an imposing alpine mountain. This zoo has three distinctly themed areas inspired by Italy, France, and Switzerland, which you'll need to successfully build across to complete the challenge. We're sure you can handle this, zookeepers!

The Planet Zoo: Europe Pack will be available for purchase for £7.99 ($9.99, 9.99€) on Steam from 14 December. Want to be notified when the game is available? You can head over to Steam to wishlist it right now! Please remember that you'll need to own the base game of Planet Zoo to be able to enjoy the Planet Zoo: Europe Pack, though.

Is there an animal or a scenery piece you are particularly excited about in the Planet Zoo: Europe Pack? Let us know, below!
What was the soft brown furred animal next to the stream in the story, and the little drums

Finally some Central European Animals 🥳
Just wish it would've been a Animal Pack because most of my favorites are missing. But I'm really excited for the Animals we'll get. Finally a second proper Petting Zoo Animal, even though Fallow Deer aren't really the first Animal you think of when thinking about a Petting Zoo but I wanted a walk through Deer (and more Deer in general), so it's a really nice Inclusion that I will use a lot. Maybe even more often than the Reindeer and the Llama.
My currently planned Zoo (which will be in Germany if I somehow can still fit it in that Area on the Globe) will definitely also start a Breeding and Rewilding Program for the Eurasian Lynx 👍
And then also 5 Sets of Country specific Themes (I will definitely use the German Pieces a lot. Maybe I'll even build a small Town on one Side of my Zoo) and a Christmas Market Theme. I've expected a Europe Pack to get a Wildpark/Forest Theme but that many different Styles are just awesome and impressive. I wish we would have Shops that sell Cookies, Gingerbread and Mulled Wine to make proper Christmas Markets. Decorations made out of the Twigs of coniferous Trees would also be nice for Christmas Markets and I hope we'll get Antlers that we can put on Walls (They would be nice above the Entrance of a Deer Shelter).
I'm also excited to see the new Plants we'll get.
I hope there will be a extremely steep Rock Wall that the Ibex can climb (maybe with Salt that the Ibex like to lick from those steep Walls).
I do also hope that new Ship will be a Ride because I'd like a Ship that doesn't look too much out of Place when I'll someday rebuild my Antarctic Research Center

Don't worry guys, this is the aviary pack. The Ibex can fly
I hope this means we'll also see a flying Update for the Reindeer in the complete Patch Notes

I am VERY curious if it will be like the Diamondback Terrapin and American Bullfrog with static swimming animations or... if it will be more like the frogs that just kinda sit there.... grrr... suspense is killing me here!!! Hoping there is the swimming animations.
As already mentioned in another Thread, Fire Salamanders aren't really Swimmers but I'm hoping that we'll get a temperate Forest Theme

From Steam's page.
Grape Vines (especially if there are Versions with Grapes on them) will be so awesome and useful especially if we'll ever see a proper Petting Zoo Pack. It would allow us to make nice Farm Areas, especially if we'll also get Apple Trees.
Also isn't the Cork Oak Mediterranean? If so I'm happy that Players from Mediterranean Areas/Players that build a Zoo there, will finally get some native Foliage.
Medieval Animal Signs sound also really awesome (already thought once if I should maybe try to build a medieval themed Zoo and they'll also fit nicely into the Norse Mythology themed Zoo-Themepark-Hybrid I've already started to build)
