❄️ Planet Zoo: Europe Pack arriving 14 December ❄️

Great job frontier! Another great pack on the way. I’m very happy with the animal selection. The lynx brings the first small cat to PZ and was quite a surprise that the Eurasian made it. I wanted this species the most but was expecting the Iberian tbh. The alpine ibex was a must imo. The badger is another surprise and a good one at that. The follow deer is a huge surprise as I like many others expected a red deer. And the fire salamander is also a great choice. Looking forward to the release on the 14th.

This scientific paper provides the source for the 1.1 million year timing of the split between wild and domestic camels:

In fact, this paper from 2009 suggests that the wild and domestic Bactrian camels may not even share a common ancestry, although it puts their split at the more recent time of 0.7 million years ago:
Thanks!

Did anyone else notice the Guest Gate in the lower right of this part of the trailer (Sorry, I don't know how to crop the image).

I'm assuming it's for the Fallow Deer.

The Spanish Ibex... an extinct animal (even a briefly ressurected one) is a no from me.
To be clear, the Spanish Ibex is still extant. The Portuguese subspecies went extinct in 1892, and the Pyrenean subspecies went extinct in 2000. In 2003 they cloned a Pyrenean ibex, which lived for ten minutes before dying.
We'd obviously have to get a a Western, or Southeatern Iberian Ibex (The two subspecies left alive). The reason that I would prefer this, is because they would still represent the first species to ever have an ESU (Evolutionary Significant Unit (A population or subspecies)) temporarily ressurected. Thematically allows for more educational material about cloning, like the very real conversation being had about the potential use of cloning in breeding programs, and endangered species plans to preserve genetic material.
