Does it matter if he even has no idea of what they are? He's commenting about how these techs get hailed as the next big hope only for them to inevitably fail to live up to their hype.

While I agree with the OP, I highly doubt CIG has devoted the time and/or energy to figuring any of this stuff out.

Frankly, there's zero incentive for them to do so, since it's far easier to sell 'exploration' ships when relying on the imagination and theory-crafting of consumers.

The truth is, in the absence of detailed gameplay descriptions, CIG backers actually help sell these ships. Why would CIG want to diminish that?

In retrospect, I think most would agree that CIG is much better at selling digital ships and 'space exploration dreams' than actually producing real video games, either single-player or MMOs. So, is it any wonder why they refuse to detail their 'gameplay plans?'

Frankly, TZ's descriptions are an inch deep and a mile wide, so I wouldn't say they explain 'exploration gameplay.'

He did, but these were almost never interdictions, these were random encounters at planetary stations and since I was usually flying a hauler-conda (doing PP in open or going to engineers) i just jumped out without paying too much attention to him (just saw the impacts on shields before engaging, dropped a few mines as a gift in return). I usually scan CMDR names i meet locally to just wave and see if I know someone ;) (and HP's character face is quite noticeable at a glance)
Doing the same in SC when by chance I meet someone at a planetary outpost. Had quite a few encounters, including a very tense one at an outpost with some guy holding a gun at me at the trade terminal for some reason even though I was obviously not carrying any kind of weapon, really nervous person lol.

To be fair, based on track record alone, it seems it is actually Chris Roberts and CIG the ones that really don´t know 🤷‍♂️ Or rather do no´t care, any buzzwords will do as long as it helps bamboozling backers and keeps them funding.

CIG sometimes does not even know how to thread some of those in a minimally coherent, nevermind "professional", manner: "I'm not making any promises but we're exploring potentially ways to persist things more permanently sooner". 😂

Did aUEC based ships, or aUEC persist (or were at least restored) over the last wipe? If not, then I would not call over 2 years "soon" tbh, never mind "done".

I find this wording - even though it has a true meaning - absolutely chef's kiss. Say what's currently available isn't even tier 0 and that you should not hold your breath for tier 0 without saying tier 0.
