What comes next? Planet zoo and the rule of two: Assessement

So I noticed a trend of Frontier of completing "couples" of animal species, and attempted to predict the future based on that.
The pairs of animals tend to be similar animals, that have different habitat designs due to differing in one or more of the following:
  1. Plains vs. Forest (Desert/Grassland vs. Tropical/Temperate)
  2. Hot climate vs. Cold climate
  3. Common vs. exotic
  4. Geographical variations
List of pairs in the game as of now:
  1. African elephant vs. Indian elephant
  2. African buffalo vs. Wild water buffalo
  3. Aldabra tortoise vs. Galapagos tortoise
  4. Alpine ibex vs. Dall sheep
  5. Arctic wolf vs. Timber wolf
  6. Baird's tapir vs. Malayan tapir
  7. Bengal tiger vs. Siberian tiger
  8. Bongo vs. Nyala
  9. Common warthog vs. Babirusa
  10. Cuvier's dwarf Caiman vs. Spectacled Caiman
  11. Fennec fox vs. Arctic fox
  12. Giant otter vs. Asian small clawed otter
  13. Grey seal vs. California sea lion
  14. Grizzly bear vs. Himalayan brown bear
  15. Hippopotammus vs. Pygmy hippo
  16. Indian rhino vs. Southern white rhino
  17. Japanese macaque vs. Mandrill
  18. King penguin vs. African penguin
  19. Nile monitor vs. Komodo dragon
  20. Reindeer vs. European fallow deer
  21. Ring tailed lemur vs. Red ruffed lemur
  22. Western Chimpanzee vs. Bonobo
* Bolded animals are in dlcs

These are 44 animal species in very clear pairings out of 99 habitat species.
Based on this trend of completing pairs, I think these are potential pairs for completion:

  1. American bison vs. Wisent
  2. Bactrian camel vs. Dromedary camel
  3. Eurasian lynx vs. Iberian lynx
  4. European badger vs. Honey badger
  5. Greater flamingo vs. American flamingo
  6. Moose vs. Elk/Red deer
  7. Plains zebra vs. Przewalsky's wild horse
  8. Red kangaroo vs. Yellow rock footed wallaby
  9. Reticulated giraffe vs. Masai giraffe
  10. Souther cassowary vs. Emu
  11. Spotted hyena vs. Striped hyena

What do you think?

The otter is the first one that comes to my mind with either the Asian small clawed otter (pair based on size) or the Eurasian otter (pair based on biome/social requirements)

Also I would add a Bennett wallaby as a partner for the ref kangaroo (different sizes and biomes)

Finally, a Barbary macaque would be a nice partner for the Japanese macaque, again with different biomes and continents.

Interesting way to look at animals, it's actually kinda fascinating. I agree that a second otter is a good pairing, while the biomes might be similar, a different region and not as exotic otter would be great. Same for the Prezwalski's Horse as noted.

The Honey Badger and Masai Giraffe would work, but I'm thinking we won't see the former of the two, and not so sure on the latter. Plus, isn't the Masai Giraffe pretty similar in a lot of ways to the Reticulated? I mean, I actually want them in the game, but based on the criteria, I'm not sure they're that different.

Collard Peccary would work as a pair to the Warthog. I know the Red River Hog is more wanted but it shares a lot of the criteria to the Warthog.

Added the wallaby and Eurasian otter!

"Two there should be. No more, no less. One to embody power, the other to crave it"...

Seriously speaking, yes, we need another alternative for many different animals. A tropical macaque for the proboscis, a howler monkey for the capuchin, etc.

I suggest:
  • Howler monkey - White-headed capuchin
  • Elk (wapiti) - Moose

  • Both in base game
  • Both in same familly (papionini)
  • Both share rig and animations (also very short tail is important)
  • Both have diffrent habitat designs
They are very similar overall. One thing im certain is that japanese macaque isnt pair for proboscis monkey.
This makes a lot of sense actually... I'm adding it.

Added the Elk, and I think red deer could do as well. What makes you think the Howler would pair with the capuchin?

Ah, the coming of Darth Wolverine. :ROFLMAO: Not that the wolverine's a pair to anything as yet, but still....
