No, it definitely has to do with the latest patch. I've been doing hundreds of missions from the same stations in the same five controlled (and a few contested) systems since October and other than patch/update days, I haven't seen a single 200+ LY mission ever until Update 9.02.

Doesn't really matter. It was talked about by the CMs (maybe a dev on one of those streams) so it's not unexpected.

[edit] Come to think of it, I think maybe it was slated for update 9's mission improvements.

I'm continually amazed to learn that people are unaware that there are other things to do than play computer games, or even if that's all they want to do, there are more than one out there.

I'm personally a bit cheesed that the radar bug hasn't been sorted out, I was really starting to get back into combat again and need to snag combat bonds in CZs to unlock the last couple of engineers and can't really do it with that thing lurking, but instead I'll mess around with my PS4, watch some of the plethora of good stuff coming out on the telly (Witcher! Book of Boba Fett! Cobra Kai! Matrix 4! The footba... well probably not that one, the way things are going...) spend some time with the family, ride my bike, walk the pup...
Well, happily, there are other games out there, plenty of 'em, and nobody forces me to give FDev my money, so I don't.

Throwing temper tantrums on the Forum, while throwing money at them, sends the wrong message. Closing one's purse, while unlikely to convince them to do otherwise, at least allows me to purchase other stuff.

Oh, I'll return to ED. It keeps dragging me back. I heard of Elite Dangerous (1984) as a boy; I didn't have a computer back then, so I couldn't play it, but I never forgot what I heard. Then came the CapShip Battle trailer, and MAN, was I hooked.

I'm STILL hooked. I'm just more careful with the dosage now; I don't want to overdose and get bored. This is like really fine chocolate; if you eat way too much, you'll get a stomach ache and lose your taste for it. (Metaphorically speaking; unfortunately, I have a cast-iron stomach, and can eat things which aren't good for me...)

Anyway, I wish everybody here MERRY CHRISTMAS! Spend time with your loved ones, call on friends, and make sure the bodies are safely buried -- whoopsie, scratch the last part. ;)
 
Anybody else notice how the power regulator compartments of ships in distress calls are not in conjunction with the ships' position? Missed a few power regulators as I couldn't access the compartment being clipped inside the ship geometry.

Happened for me countless times before. Pray to BGS god - he decides.
It was explained on some stream before. They have "range circles". Ody has more detailed then Horizons too (i.e. Ody has more variations prior sending you to Colony).
 
do we know if the System Authorities will return? or is this as intended? It doesn't matter if the sec is low, med or high in a system, no security ships show up when i get interdicted.

I think this is tied to the issue of targets shooting at you not going red (hostile) - after interdiction and you get shot at, the target doesn't turn red on your display so I don't think it's being picked up as a hostile target and therefore System Authority doesn't respond.

I expect it will revert to how it was before once FDev fix this.

I think this is tied to the issue of targets shooting at you not going red (hostile) - after interdiction and you get shot at, the target doesn't turn red on your display so I don't think it's being picked up as a hostile target and therefore System Authority doesn't respond.

I expect it will revert to how it was before once FDev fix this.
It does make sense that the trigger for system authority would be tied to ships going hostile rather than the actual act of getting shot at since you getting shot and taking damage could have been by another player and it could have just been one hit of accidental friendly fire.

Are we ever going to adress the problem with ship balance? The cutter is literally a space barge yet it can break 10K shield and do 510 m/s and has highest mass lock. (Dropping thrusters to class 7 would fix this) while corvette is literally designed to be a "warship of death" but has less damage output and hull than anaconda and is very slow with less shield than a glorified space barge (cutter). Pls either nerf cutter or change corvette's small hardpoints to mediums and its mediums to large, then delete the large under the nose (this is only a moderate damage increase equal to adding a medium). Or just give it class 8 thrusters so it can actually chase its target.
Currently these 2 ships do not fit the roles they were designed for. Space barge can dominate mini farragut battle cruiser. It seems very wrong.

They just took way too long to regenerate, too much work to manage, and took me out of the fight too long until I got them back up. If they could just make that issue less of one it would be a nice change of pace from the Cutter for what I do.. Just that one thing.

The Vette can turn better than some mediums and can pack a punch way bigger than the Cutter which is crippled by it size 7 PD.

So my Cutter is either a Trader or a Miner.
While my Vette is a Combat ship and i did considered to make a miner too out of a second Vette, but eventually i used a Conda as a miner - for some variance.

In pvp fa off is used, that speed literally just makes reverski OP against corvette. In a dogfight a corvette will.win any day but that shield/that speed paired with FA off is literal game breaking overpowered rubbish.

Slow the cutter down by downsizing thrusters to class 7 and Corvette's extra damage will counteract cutters high shield. To make people not super mad engineering will transfer (if i got 8A G5 dirty drags they will switch to 7A G5 dirty drags)

Alternative suggestion probably only a bit more unpopular than altering the Cutter, get rid of FA off.

Ofc, but that's what seem to be a design choice.
Vette a dogfighter, Cutter a hit and run.

And those big shields will do nothing if the Cutter cannot keep the Vette in the sights.

The only advantage the Cutter has is the fact it can pick its fights.

Anyway, i would not change anything in terms of Vette / Conda / Cutter ship balance (except maybe a slight increase in Vettes fire power)
 
Well. It's good to have word I suppose. Not jazzed to learn I'll be waiting till new year to have combat work correctly nor that these fixes won't be applied till the next update which will certainly leave other things broken. But I also understand if it can't get done before the holidays it can't get done. The world spins on.
