Its not really Doomed™, its just the game has taken blows to the balls and face, is rolling around trying to right itself.
Right turn key and thrusters helps with that.
The real test will come if / when consoles / low spec PCs are cut out, or if / when Horizons merges and disrupts this core playerbase.
It'll be fixed when Odyssey can run as well as the final Alpha test just before Odyssey was released as a DLC. Nine updates and we still have frame rate issues. Yes, granted, they're getting fixed to some extent, but after nine updates one would have expected someone addressed the elephant in the program. And though I don't own one myself, I believe all owners of PS4/5 and Xbox units would like that elephant to be addressed, smacked around a few dozen times and made to straighten up and fly right so THOSE players can join in.

Happy days are here again.

Isn't the OP the one that said all of the players would return after summer?

Guess that didn't happen.

BTW - isn't this winter break for schools and the middle of the Omicron panorama?

Seems like people might have a bit of time at home on their hands right now.

Gotta agree with the OP on one thing though, I'm playing EDO right now, and it is in a far more playable state than at launch.

Is it worth the 40$ I paid for it? Not yet.

Either way, I've played today so once again Fdev have failed miserably at the miserable failure.
I logged in for 5 minutes on Christmas day to get my free Arx (the only day I did so), long enough to see that my key / controller bindings have been wiped, and then I logged out, probably for another three months. Does that count?

Hey folks,

Thought you might be interested on the continued decline of the game just like we were all told would happen earlier this year.

Fdev have predictably set them selves to failure by communicating regularly, issuing 9 updates to Oddesy, adding additional content and generally being their best selves. What they are clearly terrible at is intentionally destroying their game. Miserable job running the game into the ground Fdev, you have failed at failing.

Steam charts, which we all know are gospel truth, also show the game population falling negatively, which is to say failing at reducing by going rather up.

This is a sure sign of the end of Elite because of reasons.

See you all next year, from the Captian's lounge in my carrier.
I think you also forgot to mention the EDO Steam Recent Reviews score (last 30 days) now edging quite close to 60%, after the 25-30% on the launch review bomb lows. Appalling.

Yep - if the recent reviews rate and proportion continues, EDO will be at >50% total positive reviews by late 2025!

(Just in time for them to mess up the release of Elite: Even Nexter Era, perhaps?)
🤷‍♂️ The overall score will take long to recover obviously. I still think the Recent Reviews score still is a fairer reflection of the job done by FDEV to improve on launch and a more accurate picture of the game today. There is also a fair number of base game reviews that include EDO in their comments. And those are over 80%. It seems some players review the whole, including EDO, with the base game score.

Oh, definitely not disputing that. If they'd released it in this state + a notice of plans to do the extra bits they've already announced they certainly wouldn't have had that big heap of initial negative reviews, and "positive side of neutral" would be about right.

(Equally, there's an expectations issue: anyone buying and reviewing now at least knows what they're getting, whereas a lot of the initial negative reviews also came from expecting it to be something it's never going to be)
