Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Derek Smart was right. CIG ran out of money and needed outside investment. And CIG has now admitted they can't make the game Chris promised. The only thing left to come out now is the specific details of how the scam was run.

Nah, Calder made his investment before they ran out :p It was a close run thing though. I still wonder what the exact deal was. We see Calder got a 5 million payment in 2020 (thanks backers!)

And they haven't admitted anything, they are just massaging expectations :D

I really don't know why you keep bringing up Derek Smart predictions like anyone ever really liked that guy. I first started arguing with him about his insane control schemes back on the BC/stargaming newsgroups (hence my avatar and my handle).
Well Derek after all was a real game dev (though his "games" were, well not so playable...I tried a long time ago Battleship 3000ad).

We get it. Salvage is late. Grass is green.

It’s just genuinely the strangest thing to flex about. Salvage coming "this patch + 1"? That’s its perpetual state 😁

It is all kinda important too. How many Reclaimers ($400) have been sold off the back of that roadmapping over those 5 years+? How many Starfarers ($300) regarding refuelling? And still they sit as visually impressive, but utterly useless, shells. Glaring examples of CIG hitting technical roadblocks repeatedly, and failing to make good on old sales. (While the new concepts continue to accrue…)

It just says something about the project that Intrepid’s statement of imminent progress could have been made in earnest at any point in the last 5 years+. And been utterly wrong ;). That of all the things he could reach for to denote steady SC progress, that’s all he found to hand.

I guess it was either them or Server Meshing ;)

😁

You're not a real bloke if you don't eat chip butties with old oil soaked hands

I once made fish and chips at home, traditional English style. My wife refused to let me serve it in newspaper. Tried to explain to her we grew up eating this stuff out of newspapers but she kept saying its not hygienic and healthy.

I hear in the UK they now don't serve in newspapers.

Not all progress is good.

The phrase 'Salvage is late' has the same effect on long term SC backers as 'Remember the Alamo' has on Mexicans ;)

Yeah, for fish and chip shops it was banned about 20 years ago, now they to use grease proof paper.

I miss reading with my fish and chips....

Nah, we get flip-top styrofoam boxes like everyone else now. Posh chippies have cardboard boxes or greaseproof paper... I miss the lead content from the black ink in the newspaper wrapping too

We had these fish traders on markets. Loud shouting and smacking of one fish and one bonus on top in newspaper of yesterday. Newspaper was biggest packager on markers when I was a boy (70ies) and likely before. Not shait plastics.

It gets worse, i used to read The Star.
Ahh... the true classic of modern journalism...
