Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

I do not see any false information. He reported on one mechanic, as you mentioned. Did he report falsely on that one mechanic?
Yes, he reported falsely on that one mechanism.
The fact he reported falsely is a proof that he hasn't tried by himself the current alpha and hasn't verified his informations.
The fact you don't see any false information is also a proof that you don't know the real state of the alpha.

You really should call him out on this egregious act. It would be wrong to lie to and/or mislead potential and existing backers, no matter the source.

Nope, all the others too. Say where are those cannot distinguish human from NPC's NPCs? Where are 110 systems? Where is PVP slider? And so on and on? Are those all unrealisable dreams?
In development! It's Alpha for a reason. Not really broken until they either slap a 1.0 label on it or CIG goes bankrupt. But the server meshing thing was a lie from the start, can't defy physics.

Its quite a well written piece outlining the problems of SC having such a massive scope. Comments are reasonable as well.

I think its very true that some backers think if you have 1 feature and add a second feature it takes the work of adding 2 features. But every feature has to integrate with every other, so the work of 2 becomes 3, the work of 3 becomes 6, and so on. It becomes an exponential nightmare of features.

And many backers do not understand this, and many backers know it, but choose to ignore it, because they don't want their dreams destroyed. So they keep excusing CIG and giving them more time and money.

But all the time and the money in the world will never allow CIG to make the game as advertised to backers.

At least not with foreseeable technology.

Does any game ever live up to the fanbases' dreams?

Rarely. Doesn't stop backers telling people who tell them that that they are just haters and FUDsters though.

And generally, the bigger the dreams, the less likely they are to get what they think they are getting.

And no game out there has bigger dreams than SC.

Its a disaster just waiting to happen.

Except for those who are in so deep that if CIG released the game as it is and they would praise CR for his vision and declare SC to be the best game ever.

Basically CIG's problem though is that besides fan dreams they promised many things that will be in foreseeable future just dreams. It is one thing for fans to dream such and such, and whole another to developer basically sell those dreams and then fail to deliver.

My little pleasure

"There are a lot of things that certainly sound bad to me, like the part where the game allows players to heal people to death in areas that are supposed to be safe from PvP, but maybe that sounds fun to you."
Because ALPHAAAA !

How very professional to talk about a short live bug already fixed in the current version of SC as if it were a feature of the current game. Someone wanted here journalists to do reviews of SC even though it is in alpha. Well you have one here who, despite only talking about one (and only one in the whole article) mechanism of SC, has absolutely no idea how it works in the current version of SC. As if he hasn't tested the actual alpha... ho wait...

That's why real journalists don't do alpha reviews, because they are useless and obsolete by the next patch.

Ah, the usual MO. Find something you can find criticism with, use it to dismiss the whole article.

Well done!

Do you know that journalists are not supposed to write false information?

Neither are businesses.

You merely asked about massive battles. No specification of players or not. Just answering your question.

Does it get close? No real clue, since there aren't player battles with 100s of players, but 25vs25 organized events are very cool.
But Ninetails does do space battles very well, you got a couple Javelins, Idrises, Hammerheads, and lots of small fighters in one Area and it's absolutely glorious, especially if you're multicrewing on a ship with other people.

Players can fly Idrises now?

Of course, you know what the question really was, although it was badly phrased. And you know the answer as well. No, the space battles that were promised by CIG are not there, and most likely, never will be.
