Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Not really, if anything the headline and article text were quite soft. Not living up to fan dreams is not a binary yes/no discussion where you can lumpsum all games equally. It has grades.

SC´s case is much worst than most every other game. To be clearer the article could have stressed how how much more poor than most any other games SC will be when compared to its dream, but the fact the article was made for SC at all, and not for other games, should have given you a hint.
"Star Citizen will not live up to your dreams" Directly targeting the guy that hopes that the game does, of course inviting them to click on it and probably write a comment! "Star Citizen will not live up to stated promises" would have been more objective. It's just clickbaity - which is something these SC articles rely on! Because repeatedly beating a dead horse requires some innovation.

Why are you concerned about objectivity in an opinion piece (that still manages to softball the criticism it lobs at the project)?

You're getting hung up on polemics instead of the content.

I dont think it is more clickbaity than CIG trying to sell us the BDSSE with all its promotional material, Cons, 104TC, bullshots, punching above their weight ships, warbonds, ccus, star studded videos and what not. That article is quite straight forward and to the point about what all that SC over hype and over funding will lead to in terms of disappointment. Huge gap between dreams and actual, the SC gap there is several orders of magnitude larger compared to most every other game.

But what about CIG?! Was talking about the article, I do not care if CIG is more clickbaity, the article is clickbaity and beating a dead horse.

Problem in that statement is that MOST of peoples dreams about SC are directly from CIG's promises. Massive scale battles, human like NPC's, and so on and on. Just one or two jesustech away....

Most often than not no, it does not. But not every game has been funded with backer money to the tune of 450+ millions over 10+ years before it is even known if it does in fact live up or not.

SC is very different, for the worst, than most every other game including that key and core regard.
There you have it - and that's why lying to fans and customers is totally OK in SC case.

My little pleasure

"There are a lot of things that certainly sound bad to me, like the part where the game allows players to heal people to death in areas that are supposed to be safe from PvP, but maybe that sounds fun to you."
Because ALPHAAAA !

How very professional to talk about a short live bug already fixed in the current version of SC as if it were a feature of the current game. Someone wanted here journalists to do reviews of SC even though it is in alpha. Well you have one here who, despite only talking about one (and only one in the whole article) mechanism of SC, has absolutely no idea how it works in the current version of SC. As if he hasn't tested the actual alpha... ho wait...

That's why real journalists don't do alpha reviews, because they are useless and obsolete by the next patch.

criticised an issue that has since been fixed. Moved to concern…

You know what CIG promised. Do you think your "Ninetails" get even near to that?
You merely asked about massive battles. No specification of players or not. Just answering your question.

Does it get close? No real clue, since there aren't player battles with 100s of players, but 25vs25 organized events are very cool.
But Ninetails does do space battles very well, you got a couple Javelins, Idrises, Hammerheads, and lots of small fighters in one Area and it's absolutely glorious, especially if you're multicrewing on a ship with other people.

Do you think CIG can realistically pull from their hat say just those massive battles they promised? Just that? Or are they now just player dreams.
