Last summer I found an old pair of good garden gloves but ngelected to check inside. Put them on....BEEEESs!We've got 3 bee houses - an expensive one, an architect designed hand made one and a cheap broken one.
They all live in the broken one which is why I've had to sure it up.
Bee rightmove must have some decent / old pictures of it online.
Asiatic hornets are now endemic where I live, but I've only ever seen them once get stuck into a bee.
I did enjoy being a Top Gun aeseptic guy. The look on the noobs faces when making chemo in the dark, or having to reconstitute as slowly as possible to minimise waste / air bubbles.
The best was dressing up in the low shedding suits and masks, because I was pervy like that.
I also have joy joy feelz remembering when my immediate superiors bought a very expensive peristaltic pump to make pre filled cyclophosphamide syringes. I was testing it out and told them flat it was crap- they looked at me as if I was some idiot and said they'd show me how to do it properly......aannndddd...them cocking it up- it was hard not to laugh as they created a cyclo fountain inside an isolator and them panicking.
I've just had enjoyable hour screwing on the allotment.
We now hove repaired bee houses with the precious cargo intact - unlike previous attempts at DIY there's no injuries and no fire, so i call it a success.

What a beauty. I bet you can hear that one coming from miles away.Asiatic hornets are now endemic where I live, but I've only ever seen them once get stuck into a bee.
But saying that I do have these as bees as well:

I'm lucky where I live in central France in that most farming is livestock and very little is plants. Go further North and there are huge open areas where all sorts is sprayed out over crops. What a beauty. I bet you can hear that one coming from miles away.
Unfortunately the environment hating uk government have decided to allow previously banned bee killing pesticides to be used again so bees going to be having a hard time for the foreseeable future.
The did off an on. I remember writing a report on filter needles and venting devices which coloured which brand to buy.I never understood why some trusts didn't involve techs in the purchasing - we had a similar episode to yours for 5fu pumps, and nobody thought to ask the people who would be making 99% of the things!
We had a Humming Bird Hawk Moth pay a visit in the early noughties when the weather conditions were favourable for a little jaunt across from europe, it was amazing! I had to google what it was!I'm lucky where I live in central France in that most farming is livestock and very little is plants. Other fun insects / nightmares include Stag Beetles flying around at dusk, and humming bird moths that sound like hornets too![]()

My absolute fav moment was when my chemo boss tasked me with testing a new (then) chemo agent that had to be made in the dark and bubbled like crazy.
My recommendation? Reconstitute before break time, and have a mug of tea to wait 15 minutes for it to calm down.
To this day its made that way![]()

Replace Airwolf rising up with a giant hornet at eye level and you are there
Uncolored filters never made sense to me, and was one of the first things I changed because it was stupid, even if you're not doing a shift making different bags. They always seemed dumb when doing different stuff!
I like your sop though - that is brilliant and would have been on my wall of fame! (I also had a wall of shame for hilarious scripts that would kill superman, but couldn't do that now!)
My beef with the vent filters was that the cheapo disc ones would get stuck in vial bungs and if you had to remove them (like we had to in my early days) you ran the risk of putting too much force into pulling it out and jamming it in your finger. Even covering the needles top with a folded alcohol wipe sometimes was not enough protection. One brand was really easy to use, while the one we seemed to get was really poor. That, or those vent needles with a sad piece of vent paper on the end.
It was this kind of detailed reporting and change that I liked- and the fact most of the aseptic management were totally brilliant and listened.
Its ironic really, because in my 6 or so years as a tech I only got one needlestick injury- doing an indigo carmine test- I was looking for blue dots, not redAlways seemed pointless to me to ignore the guys who did all the legwork - you guys are legends - as we are spazzy by comparison to your skill!
I think manufacturing where you have a good percentage of needle stick per product is stoopid quite honestly, so I'm glad you got them changed.
To be fair, after one of my mates picked for taking trays in, some of us used to go round and switch bits off of the trays, either with other kits, or just for random crap, like a stopper in place of a syringe. It took him months to work out he wasn't mad, as it was always pranked on a Friday.
You should have finally heard the profanity over the intercom on the day he figured it out!
