We had a Humming Bird Hawk Moth pay a visit in the early noughties when the weather conditions were favourable for a little jaunt across from europe, it was amazing! I had to google what it was!I'm lucky where I live in central France in that most farming is livestock and very little is plants. Go further North and there are huge open areas where all sorts is sprayed out over crops.
Other fun insects / nightmares include Stag Beetles flying around at dusk, and humming bird moths that sound like hornets too
They are very fun to watch!

My absolute fav moment was when my chemo boss tasked me with testing a new (then) chemo agent that had to be made in the dark and bubbled like crazy.
My recommendation? Reconstitute before break time, and have a mug of tea to wait 15 minutes for it to calm down.

Asiatic hornets are now endemic where I live, but I've only ever seen them once get stuck into a bee.

My beef with the vent filters was that the cheapo disc ones would get stuck in vial bungs and if you had to remove them (like we had to in my early days) you ran the risk of putting too much force into pulling it out and jamming it in your finger. Even covering the needles top with a folded alcohol wipe sometimes was not enough protection. One brand was really easy to use, while the one we seemed to get was really poor. That, or those vent needles with a sad piece of vent paper on the end.
It was this kind of detailed reporting and change that I liked- and the fact most of the aseptic management were totally brilliant and listened.
Its ironic really, because in my 6 or so years as a tech I only got one needlestick injury- doing an indigo carmine test- I was looking for blue dots, not red

The funny thing was I barely felt it at the time- it was about an hour later when the bruise came up it hurt.
