Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Wouldn´t be surprised if there is a follow up explanation post by Chris himself or someone relatively high up. That was really a very unprofessional piece of comms, blaming it all on backers etc. Never mind the actual gutting of the roadmap. I wouldn´t like to be on that Jack guy shoes today.
Reminds me of when DiscoLando talked about how "backers are being disruptive" in asking about the things CIG said they would do but haven't. Where is he now.

Someone always gets the boot for these things. And it won't be anyone high up that approved that communication.

But hey. Coffee shops are progress. They're working on something. That's something right?

Right? 🥲

Wow, some backers are now saying CIG are worse than EA/Ubisoft/Bethseda

Imagine that, CIG being worse than the big evil publishers!

I think many of us have said it before, CIG are only 1 step away from backers completely turning on them. Is this that step? Or will CIG recover from this misstep?

CIG depend on backer funding, they need that funding to keep going for years at the same rate and better (since CR is going to double the size of the company in the coming 5 years). They won't be able to do that if the backers close their wallets.

It's always fascinating to watch how far an abusive relationship can be taken. I'm not sure it's already at the end. The gullibers are too stron to forget the old survival tips and might cling on to the boat for a couple more rounds of lies.

He was let go. His conscience weighed too heavy on him and the young ones simply lie better and more convincing.

And their continued noise every time we shift deliverables has become a distraction both internally at CIG and within our community, as well as to prospective Star Citizen fans watching from the sidelines at our Open Development communications."

That quote there says to me that the noise from upset backers/customers about CIG missing their own targets is preventing CIG from swindling more. Shows where their focus truly lay.

There was a common saying when I was young...'Don't bite the hand that feeds you'.

Ci¬G have been biting hands every month for the last 10 years with every version of every roadmap and gotten away with it...or so they thought. Foolishly apportioning blame or responsibility back on to their backers for repeated company wide mismanagement wasn't a great idea...especially since existing backers have been showing ever increasing cynicism and discontentment over the last year or two to start with. Community managers are supposed to read the general mood of the community and advise the marketing and company management what's happening...seems like that's being mismanaged as well :)

This blatant shift in focus to remind backers that they're paying...apparently exclusively...for the creation of the idiot Roberts vanity project rather than the multiplayer game that utilises the ships they're buying from the store is an even bigger mistake.

The one line I did notice from the blog post that everyone seems to be missing or glossing over is that it's focus and intent was entirely on not deterring potential new money and fresh backers through viewing an increasingly negative commentary on the development. We, as existing backers aren't Ci¬G's focus...they want new blood and new money so seem more intent on subduing rebellious disent amongst the current rank and file backers. The entire blog post was simply a crass reminder that they've already spent our financial commitment so we should just shut up and appear grateful.

Nah, some backers on /r/sc and spectrum have picked up on that.
