Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

You'd think folks here would applaud this recent pivot to opaque, non-communicative development
What? They just hid the hopes and dreams section of the roadmap. The progress tracker still shows every single devteam from the company and who's doing what, and we get weekly insights into development, monthly reports and so on.

I'll take your word for it. I like the guys and their take on things in general, but man, they just ramble on and on and on. I was falling asleep.

Yeah think they're at their best when Tony is just doing his legal eagle thing. The pre-edited recordings are more interesting there for me, and the ramble more informative.

This is like a fair overview of the last few years, and why CIG's community slap down is daft. (And not unprecedented - they cite another occasion where Tyler complained about backers viewing marketing hype as exciting, and roadmaps as roadmaps...). But it was very long and woolly ;)

Counterpoint: CIG have raked in over half a million from their marks in 2 days since they blamed backers for removal of the roadmap.

It both sad and hilarious.
Actually reminds me a bit of a restaurant in Chicago...Ed Debevics. Among other things, one of the hooks, selling points, the reason people go there, is it is knows for the snarky and rude waitstaff. Yes, people go there and pay very high prices to be treated rudely by the staff...and love every minute of it.

You'd think folks here would applaud this recent pivot to opaque, non-communicative development, since all I ever see in these forums is apologia and even praise for FDEV's same behavior since forever.
Well, sure silence can be as deafening as white noise, but one is more honest than the other which is basically posturing to fake state of progress.

EDIT: Fuller details for anyone unaware of this bizarre event

I now get the Ninetails events name... SC is this kind of rich only BDSM clubs with cat o' nine tails as favourite pleasure toy.

Hadn't really thought of this before, but since they stopped selling SQ42 as part of the base package all those years ago, a lot of newcomers are essentially funding a SQ42-first dev focus, despite having bought into PU stuff alone.

“Why does my backed money go towards a game that I can't even play when it comes out?”

Quick, someone tell them is for the sake of a better game… also give them a chair, pad on the back and a big welcome to the “This is not the game I backed for” club. Kindly sponsored bu the “PvP Slider” folks

You know what isn't going to be seen here? Your posts when everyone puts your trolling on ignore!

Hah, good point. That should cheer those up who are buying in only for SC. :p

I don't think they will change the "celestial bodies are fixed" as it could confuse players a lot - and it would also mess with current route approximations to the Aaron Halo Belt for example.

Warning! Backers of space game might easily be confused by realistic orbital mechanics.

Also just as a sidenote, I think it's rather funny that as far as I can tell, this is the largest, most replied to, and most viewed thread on the entire FDev Forums. Haha.

Star Citizen attracts KiraTV's attention for the second time.

Hope he's ready for the death threats.

Also, from that other thread

The two games are being developed alongside each other, they use the same engine, the same assets. S42 is getting the priority, because it's going to be the big money maker when it comes out (and will continue to be, as they plan on making a lot of games in the series), and the things being made for S42 are being put into SC as they are ready.

The level of delusion is astounding. Yeah, people really gave over 400 million for SQ42! :p
