no downtime likely means the server is just being restarted immediately.

assuming the OP wasn't given bad information.

Expecting unreliable narrators though, should be second nature for an ED player. You're supposed to play assuming everything someone tells you about the game is potentially biased, wrong or the result of memory manipulation and brain-washing.

Do not be coy or play stupid, you can afford neither in Sparta 😏

Zac said no downtime, which means that servers will be shut down and restarted right back.

IMO no downtime means no restart.

A restart implies downtime - even if for 30s (assuming the servers do reboot and are running from SSD) or even less if it's only a service restart.
But if the client gets disconnected, it means at least 2 minutes downtime - the time needed to restart from desktop

Ooohhhh, actually very close to a CORRECT USAGE of the term 'hotfix'.

I first experienced it in relation to World of Warcraft applying server-side changes that definitely didn't require a client patch, no client restart, and often not even a relog of character. The whole point of the "hot" is that "things stay running the whole time, no client disconnection/restart, nothing gets chance to start cooling down because it's still running".

So, please stop using "hotfix" when an actual client patch is part of it. Those are just patches, not hotfixes.

I play on a dedicated SSD. All of my big memory games have their own dedicated SSD. “Nearly” eliminates load times. It’s glorious.

Right. Then why he said:
it's always wise to give the servers a few minutes to get back up to speed!
Why servers need to get back to speed if they are not restarted?

No thanks, but maybe accusing golgotha of illiteracy was a bit of a duck move. (Not talking about you.)
"There's no expected downtime associated with the hotfix but it's always wise to give the servers a few minutes to get back up to speed!"
If the game is now saying summat different, then can't comment on that, but at time of my post, see above.
we will find out in 1 minutes time ......

Why saying "contributing pilots have the opportunity to be rewarded with a generous number of credits" about a CG with only 2 tiers and where the TOP 10 will be rewarded with 6.4 millions credits? 🤷‍♂️
