Community Event / Creation The Buckyball Racing Club Presents: Back to Pareco (Magic 8-Ball Championship, Race 1)

Decided to try switching to Odyssey today (especially given the success of Captain-MD and Caelum Incola). I have to say (and this is great news for Buckyball racing generally) that I really don't think there's anything in it. Personally I don't like Odyssey as much, the lighting is a bit garish making the HUD clock harder to see, some of the UI doesn't always react as intuitively as it should and I could do without the performance stutter every time I enter a station, but those niggles aside I have to say I'm quite surprised that FD have managed to rewrite as much code as they have without affecting (as far as I can tell - at all) the speed of things like ship travel, instancing, docking clamps and pad turnaround, etc, etc.

now has an unlimited entry. Personal PB after improving over a few runs. Still not perfect and I'll return but time for some regulation action.

Edit: and @Fish172 , thanks for the name inspiration, and I'd thought you had 19 landings already, might wanna think about getting one of your faster 18's in ;)

In the meantime here's runs 1 to 3:

Oh I have a much faster 18 in stock ready to put in. Not too worried about that. 19 is my target and I am within a few seconds of that now. I need to repeat the 19 that I cocked up on. At least I know I can in theory do 19. As for the name, well I am delighted Clint

Guess I have to go back to unlimited now thanks to Captain MD, not entirely sure I can get the Eagle past that time, it's right on the border of what my goal is. I did not think the Courier would outdo the Eagle.😳
Have to confess I haven't blown up yet, or even hit a ship (a few run ins with the station though). Put together a small sample here.

Some nice use of the mailslot for a spot of last minute lithobraking on display there! Handy technique, especially for those inner ring pads.

In honour of the Buckyball race taking place at the same time as the Winter Olympics, I decided I'd lay down a Backflip with a Stalefish grab during the race. Hoping for some bonus execution marks from the judges ;) 🏂

I've been out of the loop for a couple of days, but noticed the great runs on the scoreboard coming through, so I needed to get back on it. I felt a lot more comfortable on the run today, I was hoping I would be able to get another stop in. And then I managed to land at a station with 9 seconds to spare, which was nice.
Run submitted.

Extremely late to the party, did my 1st run this evening, not a to shabby 11 stops, however when I went to check the screen grabs........only 1st and last shot in the bank. Top tip of the day.......ensure you are pressing the correct hot key for screen shots. Not to worry will try harder tomorrow (and get the right screen grabs)

Holy heck ... what a morning!

So it finished with an epic race against the weekly server shutdown to complete what I believed would be a 15 stop regulation run.

Alas I later learned that, on this occasion, I'd missed making the 20 minute Asire stop by 2 seconds.

As for an earlier run tho' ... it was close but I reckon' the following song is appropriate.

Mal asked me to do a thing. So now you can use LiveSplit to automatically take your times:

If any other race organisers are interested, most of them are trivial to add.
