Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

What? Not something I've said friend.

You're looking at it the wrong way round. The point about having internal crew being able to see the external battlefield is that both clients and networks are now having to deal with both worlds (ship interior and external battlefield). That's a lot of load.

(Incidentally, in terms of twitch combat etc, you dont 'send that data once'. At least 30x a second is more traditional...)

The current Xeno Threat event maxes out the networking side of the equation even now, using NPC capital ships with no interiors, averaging an absurdly low server tick rate of 3 FPS. And is barrelling such absurd amounts of data about that if CIG were to ever hit their target of a tick rate of 30, it would be absurdly expensive to run.

(Which is all very unfortunate, as one of the few scenarios which could rectify some of the above issues would be to host capital ship interiors on their own server. A solution which is frowned upon by CIG, and by MMO devs such as the prior Zenimax guy, on the grounds that it would be ruinously expensive...)

But believe away that they can easily handle a ton more networking load, and a ton more client load, in scenarios such as this. Sure...

That's nice. Strange that they've enacted precisely zero of them to date after 9 years of production though isn't it

TLDR: Lol away fella. But you really aren't asking the right questions here...

30x tick rate is optimistic - don't think even COD runs at that tick (24 if I remember correctly)

It's an interesting conundrum, but by no means an impossible one.

Epic graphics, vehicles, ships, customisable weapons, armour and customisation. Playable map that's massive and detailed...

It's enough content for me

Have you tried ED or NMS then? They also have such. With the added bonus of being a lot more stable with a lot more content!

If you like SC, then you should love other games that deliver the same things plus more!

With the added benefit of actually being released, so you don't need to defend any bugs and issues. You can actually be critical of any issues, rather than shill for the devs!

Morphologis is getting a lot of stick for his latest video. He finally gets to experience what a toxic community SC has and how it will turn on you in a flash if you don't sing CIG's praises.

Also there is this:

You can sense the sarcasm in the post, that they don't believe Pyro is actually ready, but some people in the comments seem to actually believe Pyro is ready.

Then of course you have J3PT hard at work...

They won't do it as it is an illogical thing to do and a step backwards to remove Stanton. They want to expand and scale the game, which is why they won't release pyro without server meshing.

These kinds of suggestions just highlight how fans, more often than not, do not have good ideas.

Yes, it would be a step back to remove something.... hmm... didn't they remove Delemar? Oh dear. I wonder if J3PT defended the removal of that. Anyone taking bets?

As others have noted, if it was ready, they could just spin up separate servers for Pyro and Stanton. Choose which you want from the main menu. Don't need server meshing for that. People are saying no to this idea because it will split the playerbase. LOL, at 50 people max per server the playerbase is already split.

Yes it's a rather large stretch to claim this means "removing" Stanton, I mean it's a digital asset, it's not being removed, it's sitting there waiting to be fired up any time they want, as you say they could run both simultaneously and let players choose whichever system they wanted to play in, the "remove" is purely an emotional hook to bring people onto his side.

Grumpy Eye has done a series of videos as to whether you can trust CIG

(Spoiler: You can't)

The part 1 and part 2 videos are really worth a watch. 30 minutes each so be warned!

Grumpy eye simply goes through many of the things CIG said they were planning to do for 3.0 and up to 4.0 during 2017, and how the vast majority of it is not even tier 0 in the PU after 5 years.

Considering that Chris Roberts, Tony Zurovec and co really thought all that had a possibility to happen as suggested is laughable. It all indicates the goal of all CIG videos, presentations in general may have simply been to hype up the market and get our money without any accountability or major intent to deliver what they sold. Not "transparency". Dishonesty, incompetence or, after 10+ years of the same stories, maybe both.

"I'm moving out", a famous last words meme when it comes to CIG...

Wingman was moving out for family reasons... Until we knew he was leaving to make an offtopic ship sales oriented Descent sequel.

Ben Lesnik was moving out for health reasons... Until we never saw him again and he's basically back to his Madeleine de Proust on twitter, WC memory lane.

Erin? Nothing official but the clever brother praised for being SQ42 saviour, for being the only one who can say no to Chris, is allegedly involved with the PU in a vague oversight position.

Sandi. Quite the same, we don't know, basically we could say she never was really there, just her ego and her handbags.

We're yet to see these 2 elsewhere than in the financials in the dividends distribution section.
