Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

"I'm moving out", a famous last words when it comes to CIG...

Wingman was moving out for family reasons... Until we knew he was leaving to make an offtopic ship sales oriented Descent sequel.

Ben Lesnik was moving out for health reasons... Until we never saw him again and he's basically back to his Madeleine de Proust on twitter, WC memory lane.

Erin? Nothing official but the clever brother praised for being SQ42 saviour, for being the only one who can say no to Chris, is allegedly involved with the PU in a vague oversight position.

Sandi. Quite the same, we don't know, basically we could say she never was really there, just her ego and her handbags.

Don't forget Chris himself. Who has been suspiciously quiet for the last year or so.

So landing as a mini game? yeah no thanks, ironically they tried that, balancing thrusters, decent angles and all that nonsense was a big thing pushed by CIG at one point and everyone hated it because no one wanted a land your space craft simulator. Even i made a post on it saying exactly that.

See a landing pad, come barrelling in way too fast, flick the ship round like some Space Break Turn while to landing gear is extending, slam the after burners on, roule it round to the right way up and plop it down on the pad with barely a compression of the suspension like a boss is not realistic, but it is a lot of fun!
You want an arcade game - you get the simplified flight mechanics. Majes sense.[/QUOTE]

Have you tried ED or NMS then? They also have such. With the added bonus of being a lot more stable with a lot more content!

If you like SC, then you should love other games that deliver the same things plus more!

With the added benefit of actually being released, so you don't need to defend any bugs and issues. You can actually be critical of any issues, rather than shill for the devs!

I've played a bit of no man's sky, and it just doesn't grab me. It's a bit too cartoony and honestly feels like a poor man's Minecraft with ships that fly like a free look camera.

I've played loads of Elite, I've done the exploring, found undiscovered life, experienced the big set pieces (hyper diction, core mining), and made and finished every single ship to my desired design (except ironically my corvette, which is missing a few bits of engineering and fine tuning but is already so OP already is there any point - speed build vette FTW btw). I even got the DLC computer voice for my armour tank T10.

I find it absolutely hilarious that ED community is SO salty about star citizen. The eee is so bad people need to self censor the board lest it damages the fragile outlook in their mind (a clear sign of cope)

Also I don't know if it's just because of when I started playing SC but I've not experienced much in the way of bugs.

I've experienced landing zones taking a while to load in when I respawn (causing death once as I just stormed out of the door and fell)

And I've experienced a couple of glitches with quantum travel - either the routing glitching and the ship taking a strange and slow route, spinning out when exiting supercruise, and on one occasion, I dropped out of quantum when it was 'navigation' glitching in space and had to do so by powering off my ship, at which point it spun out and blew up.

The not loading glitches are game breaking - but honestly, the QT ones I don't mind.
It's very very rare and it genuinely doesn't feel game breaking - despite being a software glitch in the game, it feels to me, like a glitch in the quantum drive tech in my ship.

A bit like how the guns in the absolutely amazing Far Cry 2, will occasionally jam mid fire fight.

I'm sure people will try and say that's 'cope' or 'making excuses' but it's not.

I paid £60 for the game, I'm happy with what I got for it, and would recommend the game to others.

Are they? There's maybe 12 people here and yet that represents the ED community?
If people in the Elite community have bad things to say about SC its because they started development at the same time and one has been a working game for years while the other flounders in some new version of development hell. This has nothing to do with the Elite community, it's just people who play video games critiquing a project that has insanely overrun its original budget, plans and duration.
The $500 million CIG have spent so far has not even made what they claimed could be done with just $23 million.

CIG would be stupid to add any other systems than pyro before final release.
I would probably have argued not to add pyro at all would be a viable move, though it would no doubt be good to test the jump gate stuff.

It's important that when / if the game gets a proper release day that there is a tonne of unseen, unannounced content.

I understand that that they gotta keep those backers happy who were expecting a game years ago. But given how toxic the space game community is in general (imagine someone being as socially inept and internally nasty to think you can refer to a person as 'it' because they don't agree with you about a videogame and then thinking they can take the moral high ground...lol have fun being forever alone with that kind of personality and broken moral compass)....I'm surprised CIG didn't shut down the roadmap thing earlier.

You are owed nothing, you deserve what you got and chose what to pay for it. Suck it up. You didn't get ripped off, you (plural) drank the KOOL aid. All the salty cig miners, the ones who ironically project onto others who are happy with what they got that the happy ones drank KOOL aid.

If you buy a car with a 1ltr engine and are upset because it won't do the 300mph or 1.9sec 0-60 like you thought it would - then is that REALLY the car salesman's fault? A bit sure, but the majority of the fault is yours.

I forget the Latin now... But buyer beware. Sold as seen. You saw, you created dreams in your mind, you bought the dream not the reality.

Don't hate the player hate the game.
I pre ordered mass effect 3 mega epic collection 'take my money' deluxe edition. While I was happy with what I got, to a point, I decided that was the last time I pre-order.

The way people talk. It's like the game industry is known for delivering on promises and dreams. It isn't. Welcome to reality

Morphologis is getting a lot of stick for his latest video. He finally gets to experience what a toxic community SC has and how it will turn on you in a flash if you don't sing CIG's praises.

Also there is this:

I am endlessly amazed at these people, they are acting like lawyers arguing over the definitions of words to protect their client.
It will never cease to amuse and annoy me how they chose to push all of this back onto their own community instead of thinking that perhaps CIG should just be a bit clearer about what means what...

It's not "just people critiquing a game" tho is it?

Ok. fair point. They are critiquing the game, the company behind it and members of the community, such as yourself.

Be alright if they had the minerals to actually come at me. But they don't because the weakness of their position is known to them.

So they snipe and ignore, while believing they are acting in a magnanimous way.

And it's funny how, because I play star citizen I'm now a paid up member of their community.

Same logic as - everyone that doesn't agree with me is a

30x tick rate is optimistic - don't think even COD runs at that tick (24 if I remember correctly)

Well it's CIG's plan mate, you best tell them.

In fact they hoped to get near it when they introduced 'Server-Side Object Container Streaming' back in 2019:

Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEwik6g0Lwo&t=326s

But have got nowhere close, as noted.

Just as they hoped to deal with the absurd amounts of data transfer with 'Serialized Variable Culling' and 'Network Bind Culling'. But again have got nowhere close. As noted.

It's almost like there's a pattern here somewhere...

It's an interesting conundrum, but by no means an impossible one.

You keep saying these things. And yet the evidence suggests CIG are indeed finding it impossible as things stand. (Hell, Server Meshing was supposed to descend from the heavens in 2018 and fix a load of these issues in one swoop...)

And this is all with the single test solar system, minus player capital ships, and living universe NPCs, and all the other huge amounts of load that they're supposed to add to the game build and the servers. If they're to get anywhere near what they've pre-sold, at any rate.

Hopes only get you so far sunshine. Those of us who actually follow the project in some detail know that hopes alone ain't enough.

Actions are a lot more telling.

They've seen it all before, that's all it is.

Isn't that what you're doing? "They don't agree with me and it can only be because their weak position is known to them" etc

I find it absolutely hilarious that ED community is SO salty about star citizen.

What are you blathering on about? The ED community is not salty about ED. There's nothing to be salty about.

Some of the ED community are hoping it succeeds of course, they would like another good space game. Some of the ED community is laughing at SC, due to the years of lies, incompetence, and mismanagement by CIG.

Of course, some people who backed SC, whether they be ED players or not, are salty they never got the game that CR promised them. Neither game. I'd sure be salty if i'd given CIG money based on what they said and then never delivered.

But there again, i saw the red flags right from the start, so never gave them any money. ;)

I paid £60 for the game, I'm happy with what I got for it, and would recommend the game to others.

You must have pretty low standards then, because what exists now is not worth $60. Quite an outstanding achievement for $500 million dollars. But it is CR, he does have this habit of overpromising and under delivering.
