And while that might have been the original intent, after about two months of the reduced engagement, do you think FDEV will get away with such an event now without so much as throwing us a bone, whether at the meet itself or beforehand? Heck, the eventbrite page still even states it is an end of year celebration, despite the date change to Feb 25.....so a lot has changed since the original plan. If they think the negativity, cynicism, criticism and rampant speculation is bad now, it'll be that much worse if we get to 26th Feb with still nothing more than 'nothing to announce at this time', if not just continued silence. I'd wager they know it will be far worse if they don't give us something, and mighty soon....

It’s a postponement by a mere couple of months, if the Tokyo Olympics can get away with calling itself Tokyo 2020 when it was pushed back 12 months I don’t see why they should pay to change the branding of this social get together.
If you think the majority of the cynicism and speculation in the forums would go away even if FDev explained everything that has and will happen in the game ever you have a more optimistic view of forum life than I do.

Quite right. But they could, very easily, get rid of a large pile of salt simply by doing what they say they are going to do, or telling us that it cant be delviered.
Thats a teeny tiny change in the grand scheme of things which has zero dependencies and would have a very large positive impact. It would stop me whining and bleating for a start....

Let's be fair here, Frontier not talking to its community has been Frontier's MO since long before Arf, Sally, Bruce, Zac and Paul ever joined the company. And to balance that, I do think it's mostly the community's fault, but it's a poor excuse to justify that on their behalf just because you're a moderator ... and in balance (again) it's also great you did that, and I fully understand the sense of loyalty.
I also note you didn't say what David Braben's excuse for not posting something is (I am half joking and certainly don't expect him to ... but there is no reason why he couldn't).
I wonder if SC have put a bid in for ED as they seem to have massive funding and is nowhere near finished
