Speaking as the originator of EliteMeet, you do know you don't have to wait for Frontier if you want to have a community meet up, or wait for Frontier id you want a livestream on Elite Dangerous ... right?

What kind of 'things' they have to figured out how to 'communicate' that takes so long.
At the beginning I've read the post in a super positive way.
Now, oh boy...
I mean, good things are easy to reach an agreement on how to communicate right?

I think at this point in the thread, there's an unspoken consensus that we're doomed. And a spoken consensus that we're doomed. We're just awaiting the details of how doomed and in what fashion.

We've been doomed since launch week in 2014... or the low player numbers, lack of comms, Brookies leaving... so much doom I don't know how many times over last 7-8 years we've been doom and going to fail, fold... THE END OF ELITE IS FINALLY HERE... well maybe

I've worked for a company that's been taken over about 6 times. People at the development and CM level don't get involved In talks, they just get on with the job and carry on delivering what they are working on.

I think people are reading far too much into the recent silent treatment. The community meet is on 25 Feb. Either FDEV will provide an update in the next few days to give something to discuss further at that event, or they'll keep their powder dry for the event itself. They're surely not so stupid to think if they attend that meet with nothing that they'll get away with it. They surely know that to do so would just further inflame the criticism and negativity. Can you imagine the reaction we'll see in various youtube videos and such on 26 Feb if there's nothing?

And I wouldn't be surprised if they use the meet to demo Odyssey on consoles....assuming they're even close to getting it working. They'll get caned at the community meet and after if they have nothing by way of an update on consoles......and they know it.

The reason they're quiet on E: D, I suspect, is no more complicated than that they have the meet coming up. Do any of their other titles that they haven't been quiet about lately got a similar event in the near future?

But then I'm usually a glass half full kind of bloke.....AND I've been wrong before, so.......

The Community meet up is in couple of days. I think they want to release any news first there before open the communications again. If we hear something it will be just after the community meeting.

I think it's regrettable that some individuals stick the doom label on virtually any criticism that is made, valid or not, in an attempt to distract.

This is a business, and businesses need customers, whereas customers do not need an individual piece of entertainment software.

We will get no communication until the end of Frontier's Financial year for any new content (DLCs, Xpacs, Consoles. etc) until the bean counters say yeah we have the funds to support this. The Community meet will be all about community content in the game in it's current state nothing more nothing less.

I am convinced that this was part of an internal bet: someone proposed to post it and then see in what direction the speculation wanders off, and in how long.

The bean counters never intervened that late in the day regards to road maps even when the company was making much less profit. It is far more likely to be about consoles. Its the only thing that makes sense... Situation is fluid, it is specific to Ed, it can affect share price, it has impacted the community managers interactions wth the playerbase, it clouds the positive marketing of new odyssey features (something they can't afford to keep happening for 2022) and it would require a lot of internal wrangling to formulate a public announcement.

Hey just a question about Xbox cloud gaming - could it be used as a way to move forward with Odyssey on consoles? I know that Odyssey is somehow playable on Nvidia cloud. Maybe FDev discusses the possibility to run it this way? Is there an alternetive for Sony/PS?

Xbox cloud gaming is powered by... Xboxes. So it doesnt give developers anything new, different, or more capable to develop for. Its all the same stuff.
