Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

To be honest, that would probably be a more interesting discussion than anything that has been in this thread for the past few weeks!

Ebob, I can't wait for you to follow the path of others before you, either getting annoyed about your pet issue and going silent or suddenly going hard negative on CIG and SC.

Keramz once claimed I was delusional, bitter and a complete fraud (I mean, he's right) and that SC would show the world and all us "haters" what's what. They ain't the only one. So, so many people have followed the same pattern. Eventually, you will too.

And it is deeply, terribly hilarious.

WHY do I need to care about their kickstarter that happened a decade ago? SC now concerns me. Why do I need to care about their damn shell companies either?
Crobbers, but, who cares? What relevancy does this have now?
Seriously, who the hell cares what the guy said almost a decade ago during the kickstarter? It's not even the same game pitch anymore, crobbers is a decade older now, I don't get the point you're making here.

I think I see a pattern here... the ideal Citizen has a maximum memory retention of 90 days tops.

That means CRobbers loves you, Ebob.

Precedent?

edit - but to be honest you're right, you don't need to care about the history of the project. It's just worth knowing.

A gentle reminder that:

The scope creep polls committed to accelerate delivery, not delay it:

September 17th 2013

Chris Roberts said:
Finally there is one very important element – the more funds we can raise in the pre-launch phase, the more we can invest in additional content (more ships, characters etc.) and perhaps more importantly we can apply greater number of resources to the various tasks to ensure we deliver the full functionality sooner rather than later.

September 26th 2013

But both types of goals are carefully considered — we don’t commit to adding features that would hold up the game’s ability to go “live” in a fully functional state.

Refunding is rarely straightforward:

CIG claimed at the time that delivery would occur by November 2014, and that refunds would occur by default if there was no delivery by November 2015.

Many backers doubtless trusted these assertions. (Only obsessed activists noted the changes to the Terms of Service which began around that time, with the arbitration clause inserted in August 2013, just before those key polls.)

Average punters who tried to take CIG at their word by 2015 would be told that they were "outside of the statutory 14 day period", that their funds had been used, and that "a substantial part of the promised game" had been made available.

And so no. No refund would be offered, as per the initial ToS. They would have to fight for it...

Which is why I'm glad I never gave into the temptation to check the hanger module when it was introduced. I never agreed to the changed TOS, and made sure I mentioned that when I requested my refund.

This has got to be a wind up, but it is fun ;)

Don't have a problem with the idea that SQ42 could have been stuck in an unfun greybox state in 2018, while Chris focused on lavish extravagances. Always possible ;). (And not exactly the first gossip in that direction ¯\(ツ)/¯ ).

The guy's 'Judge_Fud' account has seemingly been banned until 2030, and has no posts associated with it. So who knows there. Certainly annoyed somebody with his FUD rulings.

There's no obvious dev presence online for a Richard Biggs working in those kind of fields though. (Not that everyone uses LinkedIn etc, but you'd expect to find some kind of reference somewhere).

There is however a slightly more famous Richard Biggs out there...

We like the proper tinfoil hat stuff. Leaks from @WotGTheAgent = great stuff. Random gadgy in global chat proclaiming Foundry 42 heritage = 🤭 ... I think he had the tinfoil hat a bit too tight and his braincells have fired off like popcorn :D

Sqn 42 certainly had a major reboot/rebuild/restart, it only takes a bit of minor deduction and reading between the lines to work that one out...or at least, it shouldn't be surprising news to anyone by now...but that was sometime during 2017 :)

So who cares what he said five years ago in five years time?

If you don't get the point then you are part of the reason that things are as they are. And you may be happy with that. And if you are, well the that's fine.

Caught up with the thread, ironically, reflecting more and more about the state of Elite than SC.

From the refugee camp things have been busy trying to make the most of ingame events to get rich and increase the fleet. Xenothreat was confusing at first albeit profitable. Can proudly say I'm the owner of the so much revered Cutlass Black along with the mining ship Prospector after some intense coop war effort. CitizenGoals ye!

Next, maybe try a go at something bigger, luxurious and suitable for cargo trading or even venture into PVP oriented ships but I dunno if IRL allows for the needed dedication.

As for the content creators refugees Kate seems to pumping out videos faster than one can say ship interiors:
Highlight for the skunks incursions on both events along with the 6000km journey around the planet Microtech which spans several videos:

BlackMaze continues to push for the need for speed with new creative ways to put ships and flight model to their limits:

Drew continued it's "Adventures in SC" saga and added "An introduction" or as someone said "the not so subtle roast".

All in all, great content for those long journeys.(y)
