Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

And the almost complete totality has already been scanned, so it means even lower payouts.

My suggestion: if you see planets with Ne or Ar atmospheres with 1 Bio, ignore them!
I tend to ignore anything that has less than four bio's. Rightly or wrongly.

Also, if I can't find all or nearly all or even just a couple fairly quickly when landed, I move on. Again, rightly or wrongly. It's a time thing for me; you can spend ages looking for a bio indicated by the heat map but not easily found. Fungoida, I'm looking at you :D

The same, I'm only go to a planet with >4 bio signals.
The max amount of bio I came across, is 9 so far.

How's things folks? Been a year since I posted in this thread. Hadn't played Elite since last March, but I've been back for a couple of weeks.

I've been up to chasing goals. Specifically, combat Elite (79% Deadly) and Inara badges. Finally got The Soldier (500 bonds) and closing in on the Miner (2000t).

So I've been spending my time doing CZs in the combat Krait and FDL. Mining in another Krait and ran a bunch of rescues in an incursion system in yet another Krait haha. Still on Horizons, have skipped Odyssey so far.

Good hunting commanders!

Welcome back!

I'm off mining again, taking a break from exobiological grinding. Especially now U11 has been delayed.

Still plodding out to Crab Nebula/Station X. Not had much opportunity/wherewithal to play thgis week, but got a few hours in this evening.

A tantalising 985 ly (37 jumps!) in this direction - Jellfish Nebula and Beta Site Station:

And 2285 ly in this direction (and apparently too far to plot a route...), Crab Nebula and Station X:

Allegedly. Cant see it. Yet...

I have put another 500 lightyears in since those pics - still can't see it. Yet...

Edit: And now with two different pictures. Instead of the first one twice...

It was in HIP 118062. There is a WD there, but I was about 75kLy from it at the time. I'd only just got 56c from the main star in the system. I may go back to investigate tomorrow. I could have found RAXXLA! Or maybe an Asteroid cluster.

edit: eddb - HIP 118062
Asteroid clusters generally just give you the warning that you are in Slow Down. In Sirius I have had the FSD out of Safety Limits at around 9kls distance.

How many of the nine did you sample?

I found out that you go to a planet with 7, 8 or 9 Bio signals most of the time 1 or 2 can't be found. Just one very tiny little blue spot on the planet.
The sweet spot seems to be, for me, a planet with 5 or 6 Bio signals. Most of the time there are 3 or 4 stuff to scan directly around 2km of your ship. Bacteria you can find with flying with your ship and when the color of the ground isn't the same as that of the bacteria.
