They just canned 30% of the player base though so that's 30% of the revenue stream form this game. think this is the beginning of the end ..maybe time for Elite 2 on a better engine?
Swings and Roundabouts really. Sure, 30% is a chunk lost, but it's not catastrophic if the remaining 70% stay loyal.
Besides, why don't Console players swap for a Computer? The cost is similar, if not possibly cheaper than a Next-Gen Console.
Given E : D is an old enough game, I think it's doing pretty darn well to adapt and stay relevant.
In a world where the likes of
Call of Duty and
Battlefield reign supreme... especially on consoles, i'd say
Elite Dangerous is a worthy contender on the PC battlefront.
How many games can you say have let you jump into an unfamiliar Star System ravaged by War, deliver some medical supplies to a station, stumble into a random Space Battle along the way, win that Space Battle, drop into a surface settlement on the planet you were fighting over and help win the simultaneous ground war? All using the
same ship in the
same MMO?
And let's not forget, anything new and shiny, especially with the latest of... anything really, will mean a very inflated price tag.
I've seen some pretty nasty, steep prices out there attached to some of the latest over-hyped games.
