Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

It seems the recent news will bring some other ED refugees...
This game died the second they announced they were never doing ship interiors. That was a Kickstarter promise, a Kickstarter promise I bought the game for, and one that they broke into a million pieces. They stole my money along with so many others’, I’ve moved onto star citizen now.

Elite Dangerous is officially dead to me with the latest news. If I buy a PC I’m going for Star Citizen. FDev failed me and a lot of other people and they are liars. They could had easily said this months ago

Wow. As a console player I bought a new PC to play Odyssey. After that complete letdown I picked up Star Citizen. Now Elite is dead but I play on in Stanton...

Well, this makes my decision on if I should switch to Star Citizen or keep waiting on ED to update Xbox with new content. Thanks for making that decision, easy, obsidian. Well, it's not so easy; I'll definitely get a computer but I'm not buying another ED game (since I already have a copy that won't get any new content) that may in the near future get canceled altogether after screwing over a lot of players.

If youre a console player thinking of getting a pc so you can continue your space endeavors, i highly recommend you make the jump to star citizen, despite its flaws its leagues passed what elite is and is really starting to shine.

I left ED 2 months ago after 2500 hours in the game. Gone to Star Citizen...it has its own issues but the gaming experience is leaps and bounds ahead of what I experienced in ED.

Welcome to the Verse :D. Been playing SC for 2 years and went with it over ED and I've never regretted my decision. Its got its issues but there's no other experience like it

Same, I used to play on consoles, shelved it to wait for the Odessy dlc. I just saved enough to either get elite and all of the dlc or a pretty decent package for star citizen, settled on star citizen. Feeling sad about elite, as I loved flying and running cannons of all things, just that thunk thunk of the shells was amazing. I am also strangely relieved, as star citizen is shaping up to be a better experience. Just the communication from the devs is amazing.

I wouldn't have had the balls to make that announcement without a plan to transfer full console accounts, ranks, credits and commander profiles to PC. It's a smack in the face for people who have been dedicated console players and I'm glad I made the decision to make Star Citizen my space game of choice. See you in the verse...

See you all on Star Citizen, soon then. Already a good portion of the ED community was migrating toward SC, even prior to this. Wonder, if that is expedited now.

As a console player I saw this coming which is why I been building my P.C. to get StarCitizen and continue playing EVE online.

Not personally affected by the console stuff, but one flub after another just speaks really poorly to FDevs handling of the game. Hope for a better game kept me playing despite so many lingering issues. That hope is pretty much gone at this point. My hopes are on Star Citizen now...

The devs don't seem to have much passion for ED anymore. Started messing around with star citizen more now, although its got its issues its actually going somewher

Yeah it shouldn't have. That said, if I do ever get a PC gaming rig, its star citizen all the way. *§!% FDEV.

I feel more cheated by Elite than I do by Star Citizen. At least Star Citizen is making real observable progress, even if it's at a glacial pace.

I gave up on this game many months ago after the terrible release of Odyssey. Since then I've moved over to star Citizen. Elite dangerous as we know it is dead, maybe one day frontier will make a new elite dangerous or someone else will pick up the Is franchise and make something out of it.

Many fuel rats already made the jump to sc, as its coming in a few weeks to Star Citizen in the 3.17 patch. Join us.

Lets be honest, who wants to pay for ED when there is Star Citizen

Not surprising. Elite is a declining game, and as such, winding down the console version is in line with the reduced development budget a game of this age can expect. I think Odyssey was such flop with investors that David Braben had to dedicate whatever budget in FY2022 to the PC platform in the hopes of salvaging whatever is left. But we shouldn't really expect much going forward as it is clear the investors don't want to sink any more money on this project and instead of increasing the team, it is clearly being cut down further. Elite had a good run. Nearly 10 years. Time to sunset and not worry about what could have been. Console players: see you in NMS and PC players, see you in Star Citizen. Clearly the two remaining big space games now that Elite is basically throwing the towel.

Tough decision? Naw... they left us waiting hopefully in the black, only to say a whole year and change later that "they just (w)(c)(sh)ouldn't do it..... thanks for making me wish I was a Star Citizen investor.......jeez...

"Move forward with the story".
Yea focus on the text based narrative, smh. Only thing that will improve will be less braben tunnels due to less people playing the game and therefore decrease of fleet carriers eventually. The announcement is missing the "lets stay friends" part.. If i had a pc, id play star citizen instead anyway.

I'm gutted...I bought elite on the Xbox at the very start when it was just a bare bones promise. No point starting again because IV invested so much time into my adventure. I used to watch my older brother play elite on the acorn electron in the 80s! I now hope star citizen destroys elite

LOL OF COURSE. I'll save up and buy a PC and then? Then I'll buy Star Citizen.

I wonder if there is any other games like Elite or Star Citizen? One a failed project and another eternal Alpha...
If I had to choose one game I get the most enjoyment out of it would be Star Citizen. And thats saying how Fdev has been doing it these last few years. Very very bad indeed...

Are you such a fanboy that you can't see the writing on the wall? They're cutting bait! They failed to properly update the game with Odyssey, milked it for all the money they could steal, and now they're moving on. ED will be offline by next year. Bet? Such a shame, too. FDev squandered a great game and one of the most amazing community of players in the history of ever! Such is life. On to Star Citizen!

Im currently in the scheming of better optimizing my pc to be able to run star citizen. ED is dead and FDev killed it.

This announcement alone pretty much solidifies that elite dangerous is dead. Anyone holding their breath on PC that thinks this game is going to one day become awesome it's sadly mistaken. There simply isn't enough people playing the game alone on PC to justify frontier to spend more money to make any major additions to the game. Elite dangerous is over so I moved over to star citizen.

I mean elite dangerous on PC is pretty cheap most of the time. steam sales really help out I picked up it up for only 5 bucks. However, in all honesty this is the end for elite dangerous. The game has been bleeding players for many years now. Odyssey was an absolute disaster and actually turned die-hard fans of the game to Star Citizen. And now with the news that Odyssey and all future development coming to consoles has be canceled. This really is the end for this game game.

Omg... Elite Dangerous is dead. This really is it... So many year of memories. A salute you console CMDRs. I am off to Star Citizen.

Bruh lmao. Not supporting them at all anymore. Time to go play Star Citizen.

If I'm must go to pc I'd rather play star citizen

THEY ED UP..IF I HAVE TO BUY A PC TO PLAY..ILL JUST BUY STAR CITIZEN..GOOD JOB..GLAD WE SUPPORTED BY BUYING ARX..JUST ANOTHER TY COMPANY..BORING BASE GAME..THX FOR UPDATE ANT..IM DONE WITH ELITE

Time to come over and join all the other Elite folks that have joined Star Citizen. We are waiting for our fellow CMDR's to join us. o7

Wow that's lame I was waiting so dang long for odyssey to come out for console. Well I guess when I go to PC I'm gonna just get start citizen

Guess it's time to leave for Star Citizen like most of my friends in Elite have done now.
It's collected from 2.5 videos on Youtube (the third has too many comments, I gave up halfway through I think).

But to focus on Star Citizen, which I know some find hard, I wonder at what point the 'core tech' of Building Blocks will really start to kick in...?

They work also on core tech. The last one was Building Blocks. It tooks them at least 3 years to release it.
BB has been released at the beginning of this year. ATM, they are switching old parts to this new engine. Specifically for 3.10, all ship cockpits have been redone with BB.

How many more MFD reworks will it take before the multicrew juices really flow do you think?

Have you seen the dedicated screens for refuelling ? It's the new gameplay loop of 3.17 you can use it in multicrew in refueling ships.

Pretty no ? It's made with BB

Building blocks UI "technology" - pretentious nollocks.
So all of the refueling UI, ship retrieval UI, inner thought UI, several mobiglas apps, they're all... fake? Not made by any UI at all... they just exist in this quantum state of both existing and not existing because the systems they were made with do not exist, while existing!

?
I never said that 100% of base packages are not supporting CIG. I think the majority base packages now are bought the way Amigacooke bought his = he doesn't care to support CIG.

See there you go again, you are dismissing a large number of people who purchased base packages simply because you think they don't support the game, and yes supporting the game and not supporting CIG can be done both at the same time, we are complex creatures us humans! You don't get to tell people why they purchased what they purchased and what they think, that's not how it works!

check out the post date for that video, it was from CIG themselves on their official channel.

I can't wait for its inevitable rework ;)

In the meantime, I'm still confused why this hasn't happened as yet...

INDUSTRIALIZATION OF THE CREATION OF WORLDS
There are many signs that CIG is designing its tools with industrialization in mind.

CIG often talk about simplifying workflow for the creative teams and bypassing dev for a lot of tasks. Their tools, when they show them, are pretty impressives from the usability aspect. For instance, the Building Block tech integrate HTML+CSS for the rendering part and they have stated that you can create missions without specific knowledge with it.

And yet as this fan noted, rollout has been painfully slow...

It's almost like BuildingBlocks is just a bog standard internal tool to replace antiquated Flash UI, which devs say is 'time consuming' to use. And which you've been bigging up in this thread for years to an absolutely absurd degree ;)

EDIT:

Perhaps you will understand what's really going on in one or 2 years.

Lol 😁
