English As She Is Spoke

When I reject a mission from one of the npc mission givers in a station, they sometimes say "Fine but if you know anyone with less morals, send them my way". Then I stomp away usually muttering "FEWER! Its fewer morals ."

Its kinda cathartic to get that off my chest in FDEVS forum. I was almost irked enough to start an open letter.

Yes! Good one. That really gets my goat, too.

Would have been nice to put the original elite games as "mini" games you can play in that captain's chair pad that doesn't do anything. 15 minutes per jump of just doing absolutely nothing when you have to do a string of carrier jumps is plenty of time to spend. Might as well spend it playing elite.
Agreed, and CQC from the captain's chair.. :)

Classic robot quirk.

Latest is when launching off the FC. "Goodbye, Commander, goodbye". Almost like they're sad to see me go, or double-checking I've actually left...

The other npc mission giver line that irritates me is "Its one of those get in, get the job done, get out situations".

I just want to shake them and shout, "THAT'S THE SITUATION FOR EVERY SINGLE MISSION!".

I think I'm getting grumpy in my old age.

Wait, it's not "get in, take a grenade and die" kind of mission ?
I must have played wrong.

It is. You are sad because you loved. So, it's a sweet sorrow because you have all the good memories that lead to said sorrow.
Bit of a stretch. Certainly not what the quote meant. What future hope/sweetness is there? Unless they believe in the afterlife and are about to commit suicide... though many cultures afterlives would get you sent to a different place than the one you mourn, as a result.

"Welcome to our carrier, Commander... Permission granted... We look forward to welcoming you to our carrier, Commander."

Look forward to something you already did..? Okay, I guess...

What other howlers have Space Traffic Control come up with? I've noticed a few.
"Docking accomplished. Your ship has docked. Your ship has docked commander."

Continuous spiel from my carrier... thanks, robot voice, but I heard you the first time!

But is my ship docked?

In many situations, especially over radio, information will be repeated in real life. To be sure.

in real life i have working coffee machine...
thank you

i too recently noticed that my carrier op seems to kind of repeat itself, albeit using different wording. has it always been like that?

Don't think anything like that relating to carriers has been changed since day one. Maybe it sounds a little dismissive when you only have the bare essential docking confirmation.

Or maybe it's because there are certain commanders who over indulge on the Lavian brandy when they have a long trip in supercruise and need the reminder.
