To the wing who jumped me in Shinrarta Dezra (and whomever else wishes to care or share)...

Quick backstory first....

So, I went to Shinrarta Dezra last night to take care of a quick shopping mission before heading out of the bubble. After I took care of business, I decided to super cruise in Open. I almost always fly in Open, and I wanted to work on my interdiction skills a bit. Suffice it to say it didn't work out too well.
  • As expected, I got interdicted, and per the training manual, I submitted to the interdiction.
  • Once that finished, I boosted, set up my destination star, and turned headlong toward my attacker.... that's where the proverbial wheels fell off.
  • Within seconds, my scanner turned into a snow globe of packhounds. Seriously, it was like trying to look through a blizzard. I was nearly impossible to make out how many ships were on me, but I think it was a wing. I was flying my trusty DBS at the time, engineered, but not a PvP build out.

To whomever it was that jumped me:

1) Thanks for not blowing me up. I was able to reboot/repair and make me way to the hospital.
2) I am curious about what I ran into, since it happend so quickly. If you see this post, and have any comments on your builds, tactics, etc., I'd like to know how it all went down.
3) I'm not sure what, if anything, might have changed the outcome, but I'm open to suggestions (other than flying Solo).

If anyone else has any comments, I'm happy to hear them. But be gentle...I'm very vulnerable right now.

You got lucky to get out alive from it... seems that these guys were just training to be trolls... real gankers would take out your DBS in less than 5s.

What I can tell you is to get a much faster ship before you enter Shinrarta Dezhra, with decent shields to survive long enough to hyperjump.

I think my speed was okay.. I can boost that over 600. Then again, I got pulled by a Mamba, so that advantage disappeared.

My guess is my error was swinging around to run back at my attacker. That's when I got a face full of missiles.

Since you didn't die, maybe it was someone having fun with packhounds. Didn't plan on killing you, just going for the laugh.
Shinrarta Dezhra should have been reserved for kickstarter backers only.
Allowing newbies in has resulted in riff raff doing stuff like this to each other.

If you check your personal logs in Inara there's a combat log which will tell you who interdicted you. Obviously no naming and shaming publicly but you might be able to friend in game and chat with them.

You told it. Packhounds. You ran into packhounds. Headfirst, by the look of it. :ROFLMAO:

Never seen them in action personally, but I guess you were just lucky to find another decent player who was probably just testing his/her build or had no interest in racking an auto-kill. You'll find many in Shin, as much as you'll find the ones just blowing you up for giggles. Such is the nature of the place. 🤷‍♂️

Lol Are you sure about that? With the way things are going and what FDEV’s releasing these days, it seems more like you got suckered.. 🙃

When entering shin it’s often for the 10% discount at Jamesons. So try and offset the rebuy by buying big. I then treat the rebuy as the Valet parking tip, it’s the fastest way to dock :)

Yeah, I have packhounds on a few of my builds. It's fun weapon when you aren't on the receiving end of it, haha!

No matter how long you've played or how much progress you've gained with the easy credits etc. you're not a founder, so shouldn't be there.

You did the right thing, unless you were sure they had a frag build and a lower speed - in that case you could just run. You could have used a heat sink as soon as you dropped into normal space, that would help avoid the missile lock-on. Otherwise ECM would have neutralised the packhounds (or normal seeker missiles).

Post your DBS build?

Packhounds should not be able to drop your shields, unless there are a lots of packhounds and your shields are crap - which may be the case since usually a DBS does have crap shields
You mention a mamba, but packhounds on a mamba does not make much sense since mamba has no medium hardpoints - so most probably a wing.
A DBS surviving a wing attack? highly unlikely - no matter the weapons (several salvoes from a pair of rails should be enough to waste the shields of a DBS and rails dont need a target selected - so deploying heat sinks would have not helped)
Then, a wing hunting a DBS? that's just about as much sportsmanship as... a pack of hounds hunting a small fox? 😂

However, cutthroat galaxy so nothing to see here 😇

I think Shinra should have been locked to the people who reached elite in the first elite in 1984 and personally met DB.
We shouldn't let the fake nobility who paid their way through kickstarter inside, when we have people with real blue blood around.
