Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Took it out to a HAZ Res site for some fun, and thought why does everyone rave about turreted beam lasers?
Helps if you switch on fire at will I guess :ROFLMAO: No wonder I was fighting to hit anything - Still a N00b!
Hey, maybe youcould get one of these guys to run your turrit, I think you can get them with fingers.

He's probably much better than he makes himself look, but still - if you want to see a real woodpecker ship persisting in PvP, check out Archon Fury on YouTube - Sidey vs the Galaxy
You talking about the Sidewinder vs Elite Corvette? OMG, I couldn't stop laughing, I got tears in my eyes, a friggen Sidewinder interdicting a Corvette

Not only a Sidewinder. It's a shieldless Sidewinder ramming a Corvette. That's a steep challenge :alien:

I noticed the lack of shields, he goes into silent running a bunch to screw up any locks. I just thought it was funny a Sidewinder interdicting a Corvette, he also over heats it a lot.

Edit: He must have fired 2500 cannon shells at the Corvette before he stripped 1 ring off it's shields.

I was trying to figure out how to get rid of that too, I was right clicking then clicking embed.

I'd like to see somebody gank a Farragut Class Battle Cruiser with a Sidewinder, that would be worth a few chuckles. Maybe WeComeInPeace can do it with the woodpecker

Good one!
The dashboard bobbies f u r y seem apt, the clip reminded me of the movie Fury and that 1 vs 1 with a Tiger tank... :D

Having good result with Joystick Gremlin now. It's good not only to ED, Have another profile for DCS World too, flying Heli is non issue now.

But then I really hate the way ED handle keybinds, you have to remap ALL of the keybinds whenever there is change in hardware....

I'm wondering any keybind file parser/utilities out there..?

For one thing: https://edrefcard.info/
for another: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...-free-backed-up-binds-look-no-further.554451/

Wot @Ashnak says ^^^^^

Plus...

1. The main thing is to not use "custom" as your bindings name. Custom is the only one that the game wipes / mucks up. Rename your binds as per the second link above (not just the file name, change the "Root PresetName" in line 2 of the binds file too).

2. Don't keep copies of binds files in the same directory as this can cause any changes you make to your control assignments to not be saved.

3. There are separate binds files for Horizons and Odyssey (3.0.binds and 4.0.binds respectively), similarly there are now separate "StartPreset" files. (So I create any new bind files in Horizons** - then later loading Odyssey causes that to write the ...4.0.binds file which I then go in and add the additional control assignments - much quicker that doing the whole thing twice from scratch.)

4. You can have bindings for different hardware configurations and you can change the bindings in use on-the-fly in the game.*

*
Just bear in mind that if you do have different binds for different equipment the BindingLoadingErrors.log file will note issues with any that are not currently connected - it doesn't affect your gameplay that log is just for you to understand any issues that you could have. (For example when I have used Warthog throttle, that log file notes that two mice have been listed in the binds and that only one will be used - because the Warthog throttle has the stupidly awkward thing on its front face - everything still worked OK though.)

** I tend to try out different gear or combinations from time to time.

Easiest, but a bit cumbersome* at game update times, way to keep your own bindings safe and as selectable in game options is to copy the renamed (as in 1. above) files to:
<your E: D install dir>\EDLaunch\Products\elite-dangerous-64\ControlSchemes
(for EDH, works similar for EDO in its own folder)

*all but default .binds files will be wiped from the ControlSchemes folder every time the game gets updated, but it is easy to have your own ones safe somewhere else and copy them to ControlSchemes after update for the game to see

... Which is why I wouldn't keep my binds files in there - they don't get deleted on updates in the Options tree.

Plus of course needing to use two different locations for the two game variants.

Whatever floats your boat though. (y)

Hmm. That was interesting.

I was on the landing pad of my carrier when it started blasting some bad guy. However, my COVAS shouted at me "Under attack!"

Seriously?

EDIT Another 1,024 tons of platinum sold so now it's off to ye olde tritium shoppe. More ferrying old skool as they haven't figured out big pipes from the station in the 34th century*. And I do it in a T9. Which isn't pretty.

*Prolly coz a carrier is a static object. Maybe they should have dedicated tanker ships instead to do the ferrying. Mind you, they may go on strike and that'd be a right kerfuffle. I don't half ramble when I'm waiting for a carrier jump :D

Stray shots from the Seiddab attack or 'friendly' fire from the carrier and its borrowed security ships.
Still good to see your COVAS is properly paranoid.
