Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

What kind of mission? If it's a pirate that needs killing, try dropping in the nav beacon or cruising slowly, they tend to come to you. If you have a FSD interdictor, you can also often fish them from SC - just be quick, they try to run.
... I have also found that jumping to a nearby system and then back again sometimes makes the mission target spawn nearer.
That's what the Abandon Mission button is for.
That's massacre mission... you don't know where to go until you entered the system.

For assassin mission, yep 99% of time they come to you the moment you enter the system, no hussle, easy money 💖. Except for wing mission of course.

No wonder why this mission pay me 12mil for just 20 pirates..... well, I head to the HazRes 1k ls near by instead.

Now then... what's next? Off to the black I think.

Went to visit the binary twin of this icy moon. The fonticula were easier to find than the primary gas giant. It's up there somewhere, apparently, but I have yet to see it in the sky.

And then while hunting for elusive bacteria, I lost concentration and pancaked into the ground, smashing my hull down to 51%... and this is of course a small ship with no AFMU. Whoops.

Might make an unscheduled return to civilization after I'm done with the next couple of moons since I am uncomfy with my ship's current integrity. Fortunately, this is not a particularly big deal, I'm only 370ly out and I can do that on a single tank of fuel. It's honestly surprising how little distance you have to go to find unscanned planets, and even less for first footfalls 😸

You my already know this but I discovered it recently, there is the Deep Space Support Array (DSSA) with dozens of fleet carriers scattered throughout the galaxy. Here's a map

It's trade indeed.

I'll be off to the black soonish to pursue Elite I exploration but I'm also after exobiology elite -I have a long way to go and another rank to get before I chase Elite status. I think it's even more grindy than combat.

But I think I'll just have a quick bash at getting two more smear campaigns...

I discovered something disturbing about my carrier crew.

When I logged in today I saw the Vista Genomics girl sitting on a bench in the hallway. I had suspended the Vista Genomics station when I was on last. It was the first time I'd seen her outside of the Vista Genomics area, so I thought that was kind of neat.

But then I used a nearby terminal to enable the Vista Genomics area. I wondered if she would suddenly jump up and run in there (or more likely just teleport there). It turned out to be neither.

She now existed in 2 places at once -- still on the bench, and also in uniform in the Vista Genomics area.

My crew is clones! Clones I tell you!

However, she did pay me an extraordinary amount for that Bacterium I found. I guess it's a rare one.

This is me locating it on the very white planet. It's the greenish splotch there just above my SRV a ways.

Nice blue sky, though. And sort of an artistic look to the formations within the Bacterium.

I am told that most "establishments" charge you an awful lot more for twins. :sneaky:

If I had to pick the one activity that employs clones, it would be the one that has "Genomics" in its name!

I finally finished fully upgrading the Dell with a Geforce 3060 from a 1050Ti, jacked the settings up to ultra with 2.0 supersampling, and everything ran slick besides a couple of stutters. Though I only ran around the hanger after testing out the cockpit menus and looking for steam vents moving at low FPS. Just a basic test I've been doing after updates and the like.

I was even able to escape to menu instead of closing the game by restarting the computer.

I'll end up having a go of the game for the first time in ages for a proper test while I'm off.

I always push the Windows key and the game minimizes to desktop, then kill it through Task Manager. I only have that problem when the server is going to an update/backup and they throw the warnings up saying you need to leave the game.

There's two easy tests to see how the game is performing although I think they've run some optimisation on the latter.

First, approach an Oddy settlement in a ship at night with night vision on. My PC still stutters at this.

Second, settlement fires will drop your FPS.

I know a lot of people are moaning about Oddy for one reason or another and, yes, there are some irritations. However, for me at least, it's really enjoyable and worth persevering.

I doubt my rig can handle the heat generated to run ultra... my rtx 2060 was getting close to 80c when docked and I can hear the fans screaming. As summer is coming in asia, I decided to get some cleaning in my rig's fan, the last time was done at least 5 yrs ago.....

Well, the effect of cleaning is obvious, now the gpu is at around 75c max, and mostly at 60c in space. It is EDH tho, I have to emphasize.

I would use a can of compressed air on your video card too, put the tube from the air can inside the card and blow, check the video fans for dust. Also, move the USB port bracket down to that open slot, it might be blocking airflow to your card if there are multiple fans on it.

I think your right.

I have 2 12cm fans blowing side way to the card and the CPU, I bet that helped too.
