New record for high gravity landable planet!

Indeed, when I read various comments on various sites I feel, that elite players doesn't like "skill factor", and now mechanic, which would throw them in star without possibility to escape after crossing red border?
Too beatifull.

There used to be that adrenalin rush of occaisionally popping out of hyperspace between two close orbiting binaries and having to make quick decisions or die, sadly to many died and complained so now it doesn't happen. Only once in the last year or so have I appeared in a systems and passed right through a star, coming out the other side already overheating, that was a hoot at the time, good time, gone now and many players never have that experience, a pity, I don't think there's anything else in the game to replace them!

Finally made it over here. That was probably the smoothest high-G landing I've done. Zero shield damage. Amazing what happens when you're careful. ;)

It's doable in a paper-thin, shieldless explo-jumpo-conda!

(albeit on the second attempt )

P.S. I was only 44 Ly from this system in late 2017. If I had made one jump differently, all the fame could have been mine. 😤;)

When the first every bio was found in the galaxy I was parked on the same planet it was found. I logged off after landing to sleep, and when I woke up everything was crazy on the forums!

Those discoveries were a little before my time, and it was great fun digging up the old forum threads and vicariously experiencing the excitement. Thanks for the nudge in that direction!

I even stumbled on your original post complaining about this :p

Ouch. :D

It's amazing how many things get found just a single jump away from places we've been. That's enough to really sting. But the same planet? :)

Yep, remarkable aye? Such a coincidence I could hardly believe it myself, maybe if I hadn't gone to sleep that night I could have been the one to find them, but then I do need to sleep sometimes! I mean how many time have there been two people walking/driving around the same planet, I can only recall once I have ever met another player on a planet, both in SRV's and driving around in the dark in a brain tree grove shortly after they were found. I tell you that was a surprise, seeing the massive glowing light coming at me, only to realise it was another SRV lol!

Well, while the new system is far more realistic, that's certainly one thing the old POI-based placement system had going for it. Even a smallish moon is a very large place! Having stuff bunched up like that did dramatically narrow down the range of places a pilot was likely to land.

I finally travelled to KOI 1701 planet 1 and was able to successfully land a Krait MK II on the first try with no damage. The ship was all A rated and engineered I used the falling leaf method that was recommended for landing. Driving the scarab around the planed really felt different than anything I had experienced before. There should be a badge on EDSM for landing on this planet.
