Console Profile Transfers and 2022 Updates

Because it would have delayed the console announcement by 3 months? Not sure anyone would have wanted it delayed by a day let alone 3 months.
They had to square the dots and cross the t's. With Sony/Microsoft, it was probably a difficult thing to sort out, plus the feasibility and effort required to transfer.
I have a lot of sympathy. With my job, because of the economic situation, we are going through constant replanning, cutbacks of scope, changes of plans, sudden stop works. Plus the problem of actually getting anything made these days - supply line problems all over the place. Its not a stable environment at the moment for anyone.

So we've been told that there will be a short(ish?) transfer window, but we haven't been told WHEN this will be, nor HOW LONG it will be open for.
Let's hope they don't do it on a "For one week only" basis slapbang in the middle of August when most of us will hopefully be having a holiday.
Which free version of Odyssey will we be getting - standard or Odyssey Deluxe (I'm betting on the former, so we'll be forced to buy the latter).
Plus add on the expense of upgrading your PC if it doesn' meet the minimum specs:
If you know how to do it and it's "just" a case of upgrading your processor and graphics card, it's not too bad.
If you have to buy a whole new PC, or even just a prebuilt m/board with it all set up, it's not going to be exactly cheap.....
And the above is in "now" time - what's going to happen a year down the road where pretty much everything will need to be running under Windows 11....
That's not saying I don't appreciate that FD have put in the work - I truly do appreciate it - but some people literally aren't going to be able to afford the move, wich is a real shame.
Come on, FD - bite the bullet, drop an email to all the console players giving us an open-ended one-use-only voucher for the premium versions of ED and Odyssey from an e-store of your choice, and resecure our loyalty for several years to come. "You've got to speculate to accumulate."

They said on the live stream it won't be sudden and short. They just don't want to leave the process open for ever as it would then incur additional development cost.
You won't get Odyssey, you get Horizons
There is room in that statement for a new ship if you read it.
I think you get all the stuff listed in the OP that is in your Xbox account when the transfer window opens, in a PC account with the same name as the Xbox account unless that name is already in use on PC.
You will get a free copy of Horizons, not Odyssey. You're getting a copy of your EDH from console on pc, to do that they are giving you a copy of EDH.
At that point, just as everyone else, you would need to but Odyssey.
I met some kind of two bit god that had turned it into a hat, I think it was somewhere out in the the bleak lands.
Probably not, the old system deleted the console account after a period I believe. It was a one time move and the old one wasnt kept. edit - so if someone moved their assets from console to pc under the old system their old account doesn't exist any more. afaik.
For the doom mongers that news is doom.
Well he did say "in your Xbox account when the transfer window opens" so if you had your account drained or deleted there would be nothing to copy.
Awfully telling, that we're in May, and one of the only things they're certain about in the November update... Is that they'll still be fixing stability issues.

So if that's the case: "*Cosmetic items applied through the Livery (ships and Fleet Carriers) and Holo-Me will remain applied."
What other cosmetics aren't applied through the livery? I mean if all cosmetics are transferred why is this entry in the bulleted list asterisked? Why not just have Cosmetics in the list and be done with it. Maybe this is my American sensibilities but when I see an * on an item, it means, "There are conditions or restrictions, something that says, This thing with a BUT."
