Update 12 moved to 7 June

I dont see why FDev cant email the Palace and have them delay the Jubilee for a week.
Sure, the Queen probably has stuff to do that weekend. But the last thing she needs is a botched update 12 release just before the long weekend. She and Harry have ganking to do in their frag Mambas. Apparently Charles flies a sheildless type 9 and they're going to spend the weekend griefing him until he understands that he needs to git gud.

I like the fantasy land players live in after all this time. Fix major bugs after an update? Update 11 saw planets in all systems completely broken. Clumped together on entering a system, changing position and invisible on approach. One of the worst visual bugs Ive seen in the 6 years Ive been playing. Completely immersion breaking. They've left the game that is apparently dear to their heart in this state for over 2 months. Id set your expectations for every update very low and hope that something else is not seriously broken again.
Err... this sounds serious. But of all the moaning I've seen in the forums, this is a new one. Have you reported it? Had it been confirmed by others? You need to believe us when we say we're not living in a fantasy ignoring something like this.

Hope you have a modern & well specced PC, it makes Odyssey look extremely well optimised.

Dunno about devs cheating, they decide exactly how they want things in their game to be, not the players.

Never mind, we are in Leesti now to give Sirius a helping hand. (y)
can attest to the performance , I get grand total of between 0(guessing 0.5) and 5 fps in SC , so yeah don't expect good or even reasonable performance

never noticed this myself , strange , I did notice the tiny blip of light that usually is there as a sprite when far away is gone , but besides that its all working as expected.
Theres tons of real bugs though , missions being bugged when in teams , missing targets in assassination missions , bugged protect missions IE mission never finishes , combat zones with no npc's in them , these are the real bugs

Where I work we had to change our plans on Monday as well because 3 out of the 7 people in the team I'm in decided to take the days leading up to the bank holiday weekend as holiday. They booked their holiday on Monday morning this week. Without going into detail they had good reasons to take their holiday and no real reason for their requests to be denied. So whilst we knew about the bank holiday in advance we didn't know we would be short staffed in the days preceding the bank holiday until now.

So last minute changes isn't that weird. It happens. No need to cause a drama about it.

Well done to Frontier for making a good decision, albeit at the last minute, to benefit us all.

I've never seen this. Anyone else seen this?

Do you have it installed on an SSD (preferably a very fast one like an M2?) my understanding is dont even bother with it on a HDD... i know i didnt, I have 2 games allowed on my M2 system drive, SC and FS2020.

Then I have a 1TB sata SSD for games i play a lot, or system hogs just not to the level of the above, and finally a massive mechanical drive for all my other guff.

I havent tried the most recent build, (nor have i tried it with my 3090 rig) but last time i ran it it was perfectly playable on my 1080ti, which lets face it by the time the game launches will be at or under minimum spec.

With the progress in moving from alpha, it is likely that your 3090 will be at or under minimum spec by the time it launches.

I played one of the free fly weeks just after getting my 6900XT, in 4K performance was certainly not 'perfectly playable' for the most part. Perhaps I'll download it again and join in this weeks play, just to see if things have changed perceptibly. As it is an alpha optimisation is going to be minimal, I guess...

For the record i didnt even try at 4k - i was playing at 1440p iirc... but that said i have no issue playing at 1080p either if that makes something playable. (but then a lot of my gaming is retro stuff from the 1980s where even 640x480 was a pipe dream :D

I remember my first CGA card fondly too...

I play all my games (whenever possible) in 4K - although I should really have bought a 1440 monitor at that time, but the specs were enticing! - most games are fine, others are Ok (even EDO sits at 60 FPS apart from when it is loading heaps from storage (I have it on a 1TB NVMe, 6.6GB/s) which is a bit odd as it seems to load the 'working' threads rather than using spare capacity to pull data)

I have read other posters elsewhere saying they get good performance on 'lesser' specs than my own, so just assume it is all down to optimisation and how different combinations of components handle the code. (We have had 3090 owners here claiming single digit FPS in EDO, so there are other things than just raw horsepower of a GPU to be considered, apparently)

I also very much enjoy playing retro games still and I wonder if that's part of why I am less focused on these types of details if the overall feeling of the game is 'good enough'. I used to play Frontier on an unexpanded A1200, when I got the 030 accelerator it really made a difference, and much more so when I got my 040, however, I would imagine the FPS was still more around 30 something rather than 144 that I'm hitting in space these days in Elite.
