Better right? When did that happen? (asking for a friend)Yes. And probably some other factors which pushed the release towards the end of the month and into the bank holiday zone. Better right than rushed.

Did they announce it on elitedangerous.com?
I was talking about reality, not things you did or did not know. What I do know is
This. If they said "we had to postpone to next week, and realized it would be difficult to create timely hotfixes." that's perfectly fine. "Oops, a holiday!" is a bit clownesque. But are people really upset or outraged as thistle put it? I mostly see tongue-in-cheek and/or snide remarks about the bank holiday arriving unexpected.
I don't care about the delay and it's definitely a good decision to have some hands on deck right after release of U12.
Maybe that is the cause of delay, free fly week (bank holiday) in Star Citizen. Fdevs are going crazy flying SC.I guess you haven't tried Star Citizen yet? It is a free fly week currently, why not give it a go?
Hope you have a modern & well specced PC, it makes Odyssey look extremely well optimised.Maybe that is the cause of delay, free fly week (bank holiday) in Star Citizen. Fdevs are going crazy flying SC.
I will go check it out.
Maybe SC developers don't cheat.
No. Stage 5.Are people really angry, or just disappointed again?
Was that unexpected? No it wasn't.Greetings Commanders,
In light of the upcoming bank holidays, Update 12's release date is moving to 7 June. This is to ensure the development team are available to monitor the changes post-launch. Thank you for understanding!
In case you missed it, we discussed some of the expected changes in our latest episode of Frameshift Live:
You're forgetting telling American's about the NHS, how it works and that you're never afraid to call an ambulance. It blows their minds.Ou
Ouch. I was using the highly accurate internet for my research - and was only talking 'Public / Bank Holidays', but presuming that is all Holidays, including 'Public/ Bank', then you poor sod. I get 8 public, and 23 personal (I dropped from 8+25 from previous jobs). I think average is the 8 (statutory), and around 20 others
Come on Over - the weathers iffy, so is the Government (whichever one we have at the time), but the people are nice(ish), you are unlikely to get shot, and errrmmmm.
Their must be more to it than that, hmmmmmm.
EDIT: What has happened to the world, when you can't trust what you find on the internet![]()
I must have missed them saying "Oops, a holiday!". They said "This is to ensure the development team are available to monitor the changes post-launch" which says pretty much what your first quote says. They would have delayed a week, but it would not be wise to release just before a 4-day weekend "the upcoming bank holidays" hence the delay to the week after. The delay was not because of the bank holidays. The length of the delay was.This. If they said "we had to postpone to next week, and realized it would be difficult to create timely hotfixes." that's perfectly fine. "Oops, a holiday!" is a bit clownesque.
Does that come in pill form or does it require a syringe?...
And now we have synthetic outrage![]()
Maybe they're just happy to ride the wave of "look ma, no delivery deadlines"? Imagine that.Maybe SC developers don't cheat.
Project I worked on managed to have public certificates expire on Dec 24th with no early warning in place - that was fun :sSoftware development Rule #..well i dunno what number but its pretty low: Never ship on Friday (or just before a holiday)
Yes back when I was working a colleague was actually in trouble for not taking all his entitlement and compensation days for doing some weekend work and had to take some carried over from the previous year as well as a chunk of the current years entitlement in the first third of the then current year. To be fair he hadn't been taking all his holidays or compensation for at least a couple of years prior to that. And at a UK employer, your line manager/HR will usually hound you for not using your entire paid annual leave within the year, as opposed what friends have told me of the culture in some workplaces in the US where using your whole entitlement is looked down upon.
Neither, really...I'm just baffled. This is twice now that FDev have said one thing and then, within hours, said something completely different. I just can't imagine what causes that. And believe me, blaming it on bank holidays? Come on, now...
Well if the release was absolutely certain not to create any problems significant enough to require attention or fixing then releasing it a day or so before everyone stops working for four days would seem a good idea, in the real world it is almost as bad an idea as talking on a Sicilian in a matter of death.Oh. Suddenly and expectedly the next update will be late. Reason = bank holiday. Hmmm. I guess I don’t have to understand the connection between a bank holiday and releasing a software update as committed. Bottom line is, thank goodness, it’s not FD’s fault.
Did it?Update 11 saw planets in all systems completely broken.
