Then why are you complaining about it as if it weren't?
That's certainly the way it came off.
if you say so...... I thought it seemed pretty clear. at least one other person seemed to agree i wasnt doing it wrong but what ever. I wasnt complaining about my progress at all, like i said in my post it was a deliberate choice.
actually my complaints historically have been more about the rates of progress of the sensible stuff in Elite have been ruined, and 2 of the 3 original elite tiers are now broken so quite the opposite. sulphur, iron, or bits of stuff which are already presumably part of my ship which gets replaced on a whim under insurance i have no issues with how fast i find those (ie make them easier to get for all i care)..... but credit earnings being blown to the levels they are now are simply crazy imo... (highlighted by current CG).
Personally i would much rather FD had kept a tight reign on the game credit economy however allowed (almost) everything be pruchasable with credits (like in the real world). The only stuff which maybe money cant buy imo would be stuff which are genuinely rare, such as rare alien artefacts which could cost obscene amounts so you would be expected to do a bit of adventuring to find.
take your example of the number of hrs to go from sidewinder to cutter and corvette....... for me that is 4th wall gamebreaking that you can do that imo.
this is akin to going from a small fishing boat to owning an aircraft carrier in just over a week.
I know why they do it. it is standard MMO trope to introduce new currencies for new expansions.... but I remember when David Braben said he had no interest in making a game full of generic mmo tropes and wanted a functional, sensible game economy with a game closer to hard sci fi than fantasy (with the exception to certain tech which is in the universe such as hyperspace and FTL travel).
