Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Elite Observatory?

EDIT: I now have one of each suit at G5, all fully modded. How long did that take? No, no grind at all :ROFLMAO::coffee::geek:

Now what shall I do?
Well as you can't swap stuff on the suits you obviously need other full sets of G5 suits with different combinations of upgrade.

Actually having every suit in every combination might be a bit much for now, but they say it is good to have a long term goal.

My finger was hovering over the button for a good 10 seconds before I worked up the guts to push it.

It's the Reactive Surface Composite that really hurts the credit balance. It means you only have a thermal resistance hole to plug, instead of explosive and kinetic with the military grade composite. Not that big a deal - it just means two engineered hull reinforcements to plug the hole in the military grade composite resistances instead of one thermal resistant hull reinforcement with Reactive Armour. It's difficult to justify Reactive Armour.

Military grade well worth it on a combat ship, especially after engineering.

You make a good point, well made.

I need to also get every weapon, G5 them, then have every combination of mods possible on each one. I'll take my time over this.

It took me about some 420 days to promote to mostly harmless,
17 days to make novice,
6 days to make competent.

If these trends continue.. just kidding.. that was my goal to make it to competent. Cobra, take a nap. Time to buy a couple of combat accoutrements onto the freighters, and start entertaining more interdictors

Hey Tyres, exactly how high a grade of suits and weapons can be bought at the pioneer shop? I have all the grade 2 suits and a few grade 2 weapons and am wondering if I should keep checking for higher grades.
As @aRJay says, you can find G3s in the shops sometimes. There is a thread called "sharing is caring" where CMDRs list their findings of such stuff. Keep an eye out there :) - it lists weapons as well. Some stuff has mods already applied.

Also, it seems that Thursdays are best as this is when the "tick" occurs.

Actually the thread is here

The Thursday tick is when the stock in the shops changes so the best/rarest items in the easiest locations goes shortly after that with more obscure systems with longer travel between shops usually have stock for longer.

If anyone posts an item in the thread with a location it is usually an all out race to get it, there are better chances with the ones who ask for a private message to get the location.

If you've tried supporting a faction, defending it's territory and assisting it's expansion and that activity doesn't appeal to you, what about doing sort of the opposite?
A vigilante group of special operatives seeking to wrestle control of systems from an anti-democratic faction that ban people's freedom to purchase certain harmless goods and restore democracies to those systems where possible.
The group has no faction or squadron and operates in secrecy as much as the game and good roleplay allow.
It's an idea I've been experimenting with for a while and the target player faction even has no objection to this form of original game play.

Mmmm. I've taken a mission I don't normally do. Corporate strike 9 sentry skimmer kills.
The location is a high security ground installation that has a lot of gun turrets and ships providing air support. They are lawless, so no crime issues.
If I try to sneak in with an SRV, I can mange to take out one skimmer before the air born ships hit my landed ship and SRV. Dismissed the ship (DBX) but the SRV got destroyed.
On attempt 2, I went in with a max engineered Krait II plus SLF with NPC pilot and tried taking out the air support first - 3 Vipers and a Vulture. As I kill those, new ships arrive such that there is always 2 in the air. I tried to take out some ground turrets hoping to see skimmers to hit with dumb fire missiles and multi-cannons while dodging the two ships in the air, but it seems the arrival of an SRV is required for them to be deployed.
I had to retreat again.
Not sure what strategy I need here....
