Planet Zoo: Conservation Pack and Update 1.10 Out Now! 🌻

Not sure why they are so glassy. Maybe bug or something.
I think all they really need to do is just make it look more frowny, adjusting the brows would help. Leopards have the most ed off looking expression of all cats so it's strange that it looks so sad.

Extremely minor bug: the saimang sign with the animal's back to us sits in the middle of a wall when you use align to surface, instead of on the surface of it.

After playing for a bit, I have to say that the pack is amazing, here are some of my thoughts:

  • YES, so many new plants ! And the new scenery is amazing, versatile and can be used anywhere. Love the new statues and their playful and fun style.
  • Chorus behaviour and sniffiing behavirous are GREAT, animals feel more alive. I tested the wolves and their howls were very loud and I was able to hear them from the other side of my zoo, really enjoying those.
  • New educational stations are fun, I am so glad to finally see some interactive things for guests.

  • I love the Przewalski Horse, so many new animations, it is nothing like the Zebra in game, well done ! They even have a resting animation while they stand, how awesome! The only negative I have regarding them is that they seem to be all in one colour scheme, I feel like they could benefit from some lighter coats variations, so far I only have seen the juveniles being lighter in colour.
  • It is really fun to watch Siamangs, big thank you to Frontier for finding a way to bring them to us, brachiation is very smooth for the most parts, their sounds are amazing.
  • Scimitar-Horned Oryx is awesome, love to see proper colour variation for these guys.
  • Axolotls are so cute and love that they have like 5 colour variations, very cool exhibit animal!
  • Leopard looks very nice in game, the coat is really well done and it has some unique animations.

Now comes one thing that I am a bit dissapointed with and that is, no new enrichment items. This was a perfect opportunity to introduce a fake tree for leopards and jaguars to rest on, as it is so iconic...In the trailer it almost looked like they will be able to do that in trees, but I only saw them to play the regular lay down on a branch animation then 2 seconds later, go down the tree like usual. :( Wish they could rest like this for a bit, like the capybaras chilling under the hot tub for unspecific time.

But overall I love the pack, thank you PZ team for the amazing work you continue to do with the game. ❤️

Hayo Zookeepers!

The Conservation Pack brings 4 new habitat animals and 1 new exhibit animal from around the world to your zoos, all with a conservation status of Endangered or below. Embrace the majesty of Przewalski's Horse, spot the Amur Leopard as it enjoys its solitude, swing to your heart's content with the Siamang, and bask in the sun with the Scimitar-Horned Oryx. Your guests can also embrace adorableness with the new exhibit animal, the Axolotl!

Create the eco-positive zoo of your dreams with over 150 new scenery items! Enjoy a range of new foliage items including assorted meadow flowers, such as Buttercups and Oxeye Daisies, as well as Sunflowers, Tomato Plants, and Fig Trees - your zoo will have never looked more green! That's not the only way it can be green, as there's also a whole bunch of new eco-friendly scenery items such as a 3D Printed Concrete wall set. Capture the hard work that goes into conservation around your zoos with new backstage prop items, such as a rake, hose, and wheelbarrow! Please note that these items are decorative scenery only.

Lastly, join us over at Turtle Rock Wildlife Orphanage in our new Timed Scenario! Inspired by the Gorkhi Terelj National Park in Mongolia, you'll be tasked with rescuing, rehabilitating, documenting, and releasing as many species as possible. Not only that, but you'll also have to keep it green by only using renewable energy sources, and ensure that your Zoo has a high education rating throughout! It's quite the task, but we know you're up to it!

The Planet Zoo: Conservation Pack is available now on Steam for £7.99 ($9.99, 9.99€)
You must have the base Planet Zoo game to be able to play this content. Update 1.10 is out now to install and is free for all players.

Update 1.10 is free and available to all players who own the base Planet Zoo game! Simply update your game now to play.

You'll find lots of new exciting features in this update such as new Education Stations, new guest behaviours and even new animal behaviours! For full information on what you can find, check out the 1.10 announcement post, or continue reading for a summary!

Love learning? Your guests do too, and now they can learn at your Zoos like never before with new Education Stations! These Stations are a set of new items that child guests can engage with, allowing them to gain a small happiness and education boost. Your adult guests get a new behaviour too, with the addition of Group Photos! Guests will now line up and pose as small groups, while another guest takes a photo, allowing them to capture the happy memories they've made in your Zoo, and to make your Zoo feel more alive than ever before.

Animals also gain new things to do with the addition of Sniffing and Chorus Behaviours! A range of animals throughout both the base game and Planet Zoo Packs will now be able to perform sniff interactions around their habitats, exploring and engaging with them in more realistic ways. Furthermore, the Arctic and Timber Wolves, alongside the new Siamang from the Conservation Pack, can now partake in a Chorus Call - a vocal "singing" behaviour performed in groups. They'll even continue it while wading or climbing!

The Siamang can also display an exciting new behaviour with the addition of a modular Climbing Frame. This item will allow the Siamang to perform its famous brachiation activity; which means they will be swinging freely around the frame. All other animals that are capable of climbing on thin frames will also be able to use this as a new standard climbing enrichment.

There's a range of other additions too including new Small Habitat Gates, and the completed roster of Shop Counters and Small Signs. For full information on all included, check out the 1.10 announcement and the Update Notes below.

Let all of these new additions shine with NVIDIA's GeForceNOW service, which gives you instant access to GeForce PC performance on nearly any PC, Mac, SHIELD TV, Android, iOS device or Chromebook without any downloads! This will let anyone experience the new Planet Zoo: Conservation Pack as well as Update 1.10, no matter what device they're on!

New Content - Free Update 1.10.0
  • NEW - Education Stations
    • Education Stations are a new way for guests in your zoo to interact with educational content. Guest groups with children can interact with these assets for a small boost to their happiness, education, and the zoo's overall education rating.
    • Three types of Education Stations are available via the Facilities > Media Devices and Education menu
      • Sound Education Station: A customisable sound board which allows guests to listen to an animal sound, before the image of the animal is revealed. Can you guess who you just heard howling? Both the image and sound can be customised by adding custom images and audio files to the game in the same way billboards and speakers can be customised
      • Height Education Station: An educational measuring station for guests to compare their height to that of an animal. Height Education Stations come in two variations: Giraffe and Gorilla
      • Pawprint Education Station: An educational station that lets guests compare their own hands to animal paws and feet.
  • NEW - Animal Chorus
    • The new chorus behaviour is available to the following animals:
      • Siamang
      • Timber Wolf
      • Arctic Wolf
    • Animals engaging in chorus behaviours have a chance to begin a chorus if they are currently idle and are within range of other members of the same species. Other idle animals in range of the chorus leader can be influenced by their action and decide to join in.
    • During a chorus, the leader will perform calls, which will be answered by other participants. The amount of calls and overall length of a chorus event depends on the species.
  • NEW - Brachiation
    • A new enrichment and climbing set, the Metal Climbing Frames, have been added to the base game of Planet Zoo, available to all players:
      • Metal Climbing Frame Beam
      • Metal Climbing Frame Ramp
      • Metal Climbing Frame Curve 180°
      • Metal Climbing Frame Curve 90°
      • Metal Climbing Frame Extension
    • This modular set of climbing assets is used by the Conservation Pack's Siamang for their exciting new brachiation behaviour, allowing these gibbons to swing freely across your custom built frames in their habitat
    • All animals who can navigate thin climbing pieces will also be able to climb across the Metal Climbing Frames using climbing locomotion
  • NEW - Sniff behaviours
    • Animals will now engage with changes in their habitat by investigating new objects or areas other animals have slept and left their scent in. When animals are idle, they will navigate to the most recently chosen point of interest and perform a sniffing animation:
      • When a new object (such as a new piece of foliage or a new enrichment item) has been placed inside a habitat, animals have a chance to want to sniff and explore this new addition
      • Animals will also leave a scent in spots they have slept in, which can dynamically generate a new point of interest other animals will want to check out
    • The chance of an animal expressing interest in such a change in their environment differs by species, with some being more inquisitive than others
    • Sniff behaviours are available to the majority of all species in Planet Zoo exceptfor the following:
      • Aardvark
      • Aldabra Giant Tortoise
      • Chinese Pangolin
      • Galapagos Giant Tortoise

We are aware of an issue related to Siamangs brachiating between linked frames of the new climbing enrichment item. The team is hard at work to resolve this and in the meantime, the Siamangs will still brachiate along individual sections of the frame. We’ll share more information over the coming days on when this fix will be available. Thank you for your patience!
I hate to be a bother @Eltanin Casciani but if it is possible, could we pretty please get some clarification on "Fixed some instances of deep swimming animals escaping through barriers and terrain".

From the given language it seems like the problem is not completely solved, but it would be helpful to understand to what degree the issue has been fixed, and for which animals. Thank you so much!

So, since today is my free day, I've had some time with the new pack so far and wanted to summarize some of my early thoughts. As a little disclaimer, I have not played with any of the animals so far, but rather went into my existing zoo and added many of the new props and foliage pieces in fitting places, as well as checking out the new update features.

  • My absolute favorite thing about the DLC and update are the new foliage variations. I think this might be the most foliage we've gotten in a single update so far (correct me if I'm wrong!), and the flower patches are absolutely stunning. It will be so much easier to create beautiful meadows now, especially with the large versions which truly make it so easy to fill larger spaces in a very short amount of time.
  • The new scenery pieces are a life saver for anyone like me who never knows what to do with their backstage areas. Generic stuff like this is very welcome!
  • The new education stations are also very appreciated, even though the cartoonish look of the height stations takes a bit to get accustomed to. As a personal gripe: I probably won't use the sound station much. Once I placed it, its annoying sound (the one the station makes right before the animal sound) can be heard across the entire park. It took about ten minutes before I had enough and replaced it with a pawprint station. Really like the animation for the children using those stations.
  • Love that we got more conservation topics, and the smaller habitat gates are a blessing! My tortoise habitats finally won't look weird anymore.
  • Natural Grass Path and the beautiful fence design is among my favorite aspects of the pack.

Other than that, my only complaints are that (1) the statues are not really useful for me and, again, I'd love to see a generic statue set suitable for all the animals, and (2) that the orangutans did not adopt the brachiation mechanics that were implemented for the siamang. But from what I have seen in the YouTube showcases of some content creators, the animals look pretty much flawless, and I already know that the Przewalski's Horse and the Gibbon will probably be part of every zoo I'm building from now on.

I don't think it's the strongest scenery pack animal-wise, even though I like all the choices (my only complaint is basically that I really would have liked some South American/Oceanian representation in the roster); but the scenery aspect of the pack is where people at Frontier truly outdid themselves. I haven't played PZ for pretty much the last two months for lack of both time and inspiration, and this new DLC will surely help me get back into the flow of playing again.

Why is my climbing frame always obstructed? I don't understand. I can't get it to work.

Have you tried it in a totally plain habitat without any water and a lot of room around it? My guess is that there needs to be several meters of normal ground where the frame's on-off points are (the sloped bits that touch the ground). Try it in a plain label, very roomy exhibit before making cool stuff like above.

Being able to place an actual modern-day wheelbarrow instead of that wooden one from the base game is very satisfying. The scenery alone makes this a strong candidate for a new favorite pack for me.

Even though I am overall very satisfied, I feel the need to point this out now as many have done before, since it seems more relevant than ever with this new species combo.
PZ P Horse Camel.jpg

These are both grown females of size 75%. The camel looks tiny compared to the horse.

This is how it should look:

In real life, a camel is much taller than a Przewalski's horse

How are we supposed to enjoy this new species combination, when they look so misplaced next to each other? Please do something about the size of the camel.

I actually turned off the water, added more ground, and didn't have anything on the island and it still said obstructed.

Oh wow, that is really drastic ! I second this, that the camel size need to be adjusted to be bigger.

Yes, I am also the opinion that at least the species with the obviously wrong size (Camel, Bison, Malayan Tapir) should be fixed. This is just a mistake and in my opinion much more important to fix than somehow overstylized animals like the lion.

No new splash screen spotted yet

I like that we can add our own sounds and pictures to the education station BUT it's a pity it will only then be that sound and picture rather than randomising like the default (modders this one might need to be for you...). If anyone has any good sites for short animal sounds that are free with no registration etc. then I'd appreciate it. So far i have a few from Pixabay that might work
