Elite Dangerous: Issue regarding incorrectly accrued Fleet Carrier upkeep costs addressed.

Greetings Commanders,

Hope you're having a fine week so far.
Here to have a brief check in today regarding an issue around some rather nervous noises heard coming from Commander wallets, regarding Fleet Carrier upkeep costs looking a little on the heavy side.
Some upkeep costs were reported as being inflated by as much as triple the expected totals.

Issue:
Carrier upkeep was failing to be deducted under the regular, planned cadence, causing it to stack up and show inflated totals in Carrier management.

I'm very pleased to say that earlier today the finance department...I mean the dev team pushed a smart, undercover fix for the issue, which will ensure your weekly carrier upkeep is more in line with what you're expecting going forward.
If you experience any further issues, we'll keep an eye out.

Any light hearted humour above aside - Apologies for the confusion caused with the issue and thank you always for your thoughts and feedback.

Have a lovely rest of the day and week ahead!

o7 Commanders.
Thanks, Sally and the finance... dev team!
It's wonderful to have you back, Sally! Nice to read you again :)

Still CTDing randomly since U12, but at least the important stuff gets addressed.
Hello!
Gentle reminder that server side fixes to take some pressure off inflated and incorrect ticking of carrier costs is something we're able to do quicker, with a different skillset and via a different method of fix delivery to fixes addressing remaining CTDs. If we can fix something sooner, we'll always try and get it through for you all.

Rest assured that the CTDs I've made note of and continue to discuss on this side (thanks to the additional feedback from Commanders during the last hotfix chatter), continue to be on the importance radar and we'll do what we can to keep you updated on progress.

Thanks Sally, they're getting really frustrating now. The crash reporter doesn't seem to send data since update 12 so it feels like we're unable to help narrow down the problem by sending in further info.

Back again, Commanders o7

I've just updated the original post with some additional information after further digging. I've also included it below for you too.
As several of you predicted actually, the fix will be present as part of the next, usual Thursday morning maintenance tick.
My apologies for not double-downing on this information for you from the start - I'm kicking myself - I should have absolutely made sure of the fact before compiling the notes here.

Thanks for your patience with me!

{EDIT ON 24/06/2022}
PLEASE NOTE:

  • This fix will not take effect until the next maintenance tick, which will take place at normal time next week.
  • At which point all of the accrued costs that you see up until that point, as a result of this issue, will be deducted from your balance.
  • From then on (post maintenance tick), Carrier upkeep costs will be accumulated and deducted as you were used to, as normal. There have been no changes to the way upkeep costs will be displayed or managed for you moving forward, the way the upkeep system has been behaiving was the result of an unfortunate issue in occurance.
  • The fix will also be present for Horizons players as well as Odyssey.

A very helpful and welcome clarification thank you.

This post doesn't really cover HOW costs will be recalculated because I'm seeing the issue where suspended services aren't being taken into account and instead the accrued costs are the full unsuspended costs instead.

As I understand it, there was at no point a change in upkeep calculation. Upkeep hasn't been collected for some time now, even though we got a message telling us how much we owe. Since we never paid, out debt kept growing. The server problem with upkeep collection has been fixed, next Thursday all outstanding fees will be collected and we're back to our regular schedule/cost.

Well that just made my day ... a post from Sally.

Lovely to see you posting again :D

My point is they are collecting full fees for services if if they were suspended. So we're paying the full cost of a suspended service which can throw costs out of wack

I've just logged into Odyssey, and it's not been fixed for me either. Still showing 17M+ (I've only owned it for 2 weeks) and no money deducted from my Carrier balance. I dropped 1B in when I bought it, and topped it up with 9M each week to cover the weekly upkeep, but it's still all there.
not until next tick cmdr

WELCOME BACK SALLY

Hi all CMDRs and Frontier,

Just a small note that the bug of the rised upkeep is still ongoing. I had to get emergency credits to my FC or it would be decomissioned in 2 or 3 weeks. As an explorer I do not have billions in my pocket. Hopefully you can find the issue quickly and fix it. Thanks for the good and hard work.

Edit: just read it. Let see next week if it is fixed. I'll keep you posted.

I think you are absolutely right. My base upkeep is 14,350,016. Add five jumps in the last two weeks and my accumulated upkeep should be 29,200,032, yet it shows there an additional 4,322,110 cr which I believe are indeed full fees from suspended services. 😕

I don’t yet own a carrier so don’t know this but does the change in charge for a suspended service show immediately it is suspended or when all the other stuff happens at tick time?

I haven't had those services active in months, in fact since the CG that rewarded discounted FC outfitting, which is when I got them.

EDIT: typo.
