The impending Rosetta mission to land on a comet today got me thinking. I haven't seen a comet in any system I've visited and I haven't seen it mentioned or shown in any of the "fantastic sights" threads.
I realise a comet would not be very visible until the tail forms as it approaches the star, is that why we don't see them? Or are they just incredibly rare?
If they are going to appear in the game I think they should be given a unique scanner symbol so they can be picked out and it might lead to scientific missions on the bulletin board: "Find the comet in system X, get scans and return the data."
