Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I just had a gut wrenching experience, I jumped in a system with 2 Black Holes orbiting each other. At first I thought it was a glitch so I sped-up wriggling around looking for the star and got caught in the gravity well, I was able to acquire an escape vector and light off the FSD and jump out. I used my supply of heatsinks too.

Nice! and well played too...

Ya, I'm still shacking, my hull integrity went down to 50%. I took the screen shot right before I took off and blundered into them. First time I've jumped into these, usually there's other stars, it's so damn dark in this void I didn't have enough background stars for me to see the halo. Phewwww.............. I couldn't get over how it started overheating.

When you go back, turn on orbit lines first...

Then you can see teh exclusion zones IIRC...

Has anyone ever seen any Thargoid missions here?:

If not, my speculation - Salvation's weapon fails and the bubble becomes infested with Thargoid's, and Thargoid related content (new mission types) becomes more accessible to players. Placing Thargoid combat 500ly+ away, and then 20 minutes of searching for a target to fight makes it near impossible for me to engage with this game play content. I'm busy with my carrier in the bubble, so moving it for another activity that I might only want to dabble with is not practical.

PS. What do you think of Quain's new shades? ..... I blame Codger :ROFLMAO:

That was one of the most anticipated features since the days of the alpha for Odyssey. Seeing the Thargoids panel in the on foot missions got many people excited (me included).

Then reality hit us all.

Hard.

Looking forward to on foot Thargoid encounters now, I think we're getting there.

That name, Atomic fireball reminds me of the movie Dumb & Dumber when he dumped a half a bottle of Atomic Hot Sauce on the other guys hamburger while he was in the bathroom.
I remember eating Atomic Fireballs in Junior High School in the late '70's.

When they came out, everybody abandoned Gobstoppers because not only did the Fireballs taste better, they were smaller so you could hide them. There was no hiding a Gobstopper. A teacher would see your jaw puffed out from a mile away.

I remember those...bane of dentists everywhere...

Now that's something you don't expect to run into. Well done not getting fried!

My poor shades don't work right in Odyssey. I blame FDEV.

I had actually accepted the fact that I had just lost data for over 1200 systems and 10+ ELW's and all the xenobiology data too. I started wondering where I was going to restart after the rebuy. The repair limpets work great, btw (and the AFMU, I only have one though, can't repair itself (Next time I'll bring two)).

My ExploPhantom had two and in the end it didn't matter...but they were handy...
