Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I've hovering around the #30,000 mark for the past 6 months!
The Manticore looks nice. Does it shoot better that the one in the Training mission?
That one felt like I was shooting Coconuts with a fairground air rifle.
From what I've read, the other plasma weapons (Executioner, Initimidator and Tormentor) are better than the Opressor but I've only used the Executioner at this point, as my primary weapon in game (long range, good damage, easy to use, but not for everyone)

I do have some of those other weapons. I've just never used them.

Just finished off-loading 12kT of Silver from my Carrier. I suspect, hell I remember, it was much more fun doing multiple runs in the Vette and I probably made credits quicker too.
Managed to bag a G3 Artemis suit, so I'm taking the Sha-Na-Boom Boom out for a spin. A couple of years ago, I did the Robingo [?] runs and had a mission for a trip to visit a Carbon Star. I declined the mission, but bookmarked it. So let's see if it still out there in Odyssey.

Found a ringed water world, great Kodak moment.

Right.

The Oppressor does fire pink balls of light. Here's a not-very-good shot of it as the rate of fire is quite rapid:

However, don't let that put you off if pink is not your colour. This is a very effective weapon - at least, it is with the mods I selected and its grade - about a 1.5 second salvo will take down an unshielded target and I guesstimate about 2.5 seconds shielded. Caveat: these scavs are of the "harmless" variety I encountered during a power-on mission so YMMV.

One thing to note: although it doesn't sound like the roof is falling in, unless you silence it, scav cromies will come running.

It's good fun though and reminds me - albeit in pink - of the plasma gun from Quake III Arena :D

EDIT: Perhaps they should consider on-foot weapon fire colour in livery

Me too, full of Tritium.
If not today then next week for sure! ⚡ 🍿🍻

EDIT Ooops - just saw galnet - approx 2 weeks from 14th until Proteus (burn/xenocide) weapon fully assembled, so next week start charging it up, then protection CG, then maybe 4th Aug, then maybe after R13, ad finitum....
For a week or two now, I've suspected that U13 will be the culmination of the Proteus Wave device's success/failure...

I've started on a little exploration journey. I'm heading core-ward more or less, but attempting to avoid the beaten path. I just want to get into a spot where the star density is pretty high, because I like when the sky is full of stars.

Usually when I travel in the carrier I ride inside one of my ships, in the hold. Only rarely do I sit on the bridge and watch the jumps. But I did today.

It does look pretty impressive, and the sounds are amazingly good.

I'll just keep moving on out until I find a nice, undiscovered section of space where I can settle in for a bit. :)

I just had a gut wrenching experience, I jumped in a system with 2 Black Holes orbiting each other. At first I thought it was a glitch so I sped-up wriggling around looking for the star and got caught in the gravity well, I was able to acquire an escape vector and light off the FSD and jump out. I used my supply of heatsinks too.
