Well it's the final day and it's time for the penultimate scoreboard update. I am not sure when I will post the final leaderboards yet, I've had this week off work so as tomorrow's my first day back I might just wait until I finish, which will also give plenty of time for people to submit their times.
There were a few entries into the Regulation Class and first up was Cmdr. Homborger. The gloves had come off and so had the Shields, it was a hard fight at Baffin and especially King's Inheritance where taking a little tour around the buildings certainly added a couple of minutes to the time, but it's nice to keep the ATC entertained

The decision was made at that point to Chicken out of the last two stops and head back to Noriega.
The overall time was enough for an improvement, but not enough to move up a place. Next up Cmdr. Von Rhein took back to the course and was determined to make it around all of the bases which they did. Having a steady run, though still plagued by obscured jumps, they managed to get around the course over 5 minutes quicker erasing almost the whole penalty they took last time and moving up into Fourth place.
Next up we had Cmdr. Epaphus back in the Regulation class again and getting used to the difference between the Corvette and the Cobra. I'm not sure what his motivation was, and I'm not going to suggest it was to beat Psykit in both classes... but he took 3 and a half minutes off his previous best and jumped up two places into Fifth just ahead of Psykit.
Finally we had another new entrant in Kimosabe_X who decided to enter in style by putting a Shieldless run down, while having no experience of high g landings

They were struggling to work out how to make up so much time, I imagine a fair part of it is the approach to the planets (feel free to check out the tips videos especially the SC comparison one), but getting from Orbital Cruise down to the planet's surface is a whole different skill in of itself. You can approach bases on higher g planets at an almost 90 degree angle until you get about 100Km from the surface before forcing an angle to drop into glide safely at, because the approach takes so much longer in higher g situations.
Still the hardcore approach paid off because they made it around, and they did it in under an hour too.
There was only one entry in the Unlimited Class today and it was Cmdr. Stevenson. She took back to the course in the Slave of the Empire to try and improve her time and give some more poor, unsuspecting ATCs a heart attack or two. Despite the slight time lost getting acquainted with the landing pad at Weber, it was a very nice run indeed taking almost 4 minutes off her previous time. Unfortunately it only cements her current position but she closes in to just over 30 seconds behind Aken.
