Wait a minute: is that by design??
The very few times I've played EDO I noticed bio/geo sites weren't showing on my panel and I simply thought "Oh well, just another Oddity bug".
Now you're telling me that's Working As Intended™? Who-- Wh-What the #$%&@ was FDev thinking??
What they were thinking is "if we put every bio/geo instance on the new planets as a scan-from-orbit POI the navigation will have a few hundred thousand entries on it".
Same reason that the Horizons client doesn't give you a POI marker from orbit for every single Metallic Meteorite and Outcrop.
You get the heatmap instead, fly down to a bit where it's blue for the type of feature you're interested in (which could be anything from "a few isolated valleys" to "90% of the planet") and the life forms or geo features will be there - some of the rarer ones might require a bit of hunting, and for a few species it helps to get an understanding of the micro-terrain types they like best which doesn't show on the planet-wide heatmap, but it's still "one patch every five or six kilometres" not "one patch every megametre", and you actually get to explore the planet a bit rather than "fly to target identified from orbit, leave again".
The POI system is only suitable for things where there's single-digit numbers (or maybe low double) of them on the entire planet, which in Odyssey planets just isn't true of that sort of feature (it
is still used for human structures, which on these planets are still extremely rare: if in 2043 we get to access populated ELWs they probably won't have a POI for each house either)
