Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I also re-outfitted a Krait for scout combat (which is pretty much all I've ever done in bug fighting in the past..), after years of not having an anti xeno ship!

Did a bit of fighting in the Azimuth weapon system, and now we're all chilling on my carrier, parked nearby. Partying the end of the world away..! ;)

I've been trying to catch this sequence on video for a while, but something always goes wrong.
"Waiting for mother" - Fleet Carrier arrival in front of planetary asteroid ring. Is it me, or is there something a little off with the animation sequence? You get a glimpse of where the carrier will be fore it arrives. 1 minute long.
Yes, that does look weird.
I saw mine appear by accident. I had entered the system and target the carrier, but when I got there, there was nothing there. Then a flash of lightening and a massive crack and she pulled herself out of dark clouds. It scare the bejeezus out of me!

I have finally found THE Thargoid scout killer. It is the Challenger. I struggled mightily with the Gauss Cannons when I first tried a while back, but these AX turrets make it so much easier. I've got decontaminate and repair limpet controllers on board. If I had the materials to craft ammo for the AX cannons, I could stay out there fighting indefinitely. As it is I can stay until I run out of ammo. The ship is just invincible.
I'm confused because Krait II can fit 3 large and 1 medium AX MC turret. There is only 1 large hardpoint on the Challenger, so it can't match the Krait for damage output.

On a more serious note: If we are going to be in a war with angry thargoids, I think they will categorize me, being a Martian, as being somewhat "human related". I have always avoided killing thargoids, but if this is where the story goes, can you come up with a good AX starter setup, preferably something really simple like a Vulture? Or should I just continue ramming them? :alien:

The Krait has two things against it: It's not nearly as manurable as the Challenger and it's hull isn't as strong. I took it out there and tried it.

I can keep the guns on target virtually non-stop with the Challenger. It's impossible with the Krait. So having two extra size 3 cannons doesn't make up for having all 4 of the AX guns (three size two and one size 3) from the Challenger on target virtually all of the time.

What's more, by killing them faster, you don't take near as much damage. You live far longer.

Nice...

That does make sense. Thanks 😁

I have managed to stumble into a massive area of Brown Dwarfs, in 65 jumps I hit a couple of yellow-orange and one blue-white stars, I checked the galmap and there is a salting of scoopable stars around. I find it fascinating because nobody ventures into these areas, the T class brown dwarfs can have over 30 bodies, they only lack terrestrial planets and gas giants with life (there are bio-signals on planets and moons too).

Are you carrying extra fuel and refuelng limpets?

Oh, "Elite I" not "Elite".

Rupee's mom back home has that same confusion!

On foot terminal mission board, combat...

Probably needs a faction with offline settlements for the scavs to move into. Not sure if that would be state related or not.
Not sure on system state or faction relationships but I tend to mosey around these states:

I also add war and civil war to my system search in case I fancy a CZ. The thing with the former is that - as the thread says - you get support missions which are basically power-ons with or without fires to extinguish. These are pretty good for stocking up on goods and assets. You sometimes get good data too.

I think there may be more scav destruction missions in lower security systems but that may just be my imagination.

Imagination... geddit? :D
