Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Cruising along at Y=-500 toward AG Carinae and this is about our closest approach on Eta Carinae until we go there on the way back (contingent upon lack of preventative disasters). Oh whoops I'm talking to myself. No passengers! Easily solved gets on the system channel

(big!)

That was a cool new cinematic when I logged on about the Proteus Wave, does that play every time or just once?

I think it may still pop up once per program start is what I experienced today but can then skip it by tapping escape

Just out of curiosity...

What are you guys "working" on at present?

I've just hauled my sorry behind to
Seos (yay, I got learned in scooping) so I can hop back and forth to
Sothis for Sirius Corp faction.

I'm just interested so it gives me ideas for future ventures.

(although I now prefet "The Rimmer" - @@@O - brilliant :D )

Just spent an hour stealthily taking out 19 scavengers at a settlement. I just couldn't find the last one. Nipped into the SRV. Nope, none on the scanner.

Feeling slightly miffed, I relogged, got back into my mini-missile scav-splatterer and watched the scenario reset whereby I just nuked 'em all from orbit. Not a proud moment but it got the mission objective to update.

I ought to go mining or exploring or something :D

OK, some of you experienced core miners help me out here:

I've noticed that I get the "Optimum Yield Range Exceeded" error no matter what charge I use; low or medium. I'll get it to where the scale is in the blue but not in the red. I'm averaging between 10 and 15 "chunks" per detonation.

I've found two alexandrite cores so far and have a total of 30 alexandrite tons right now.

What am I doing wrong? Should I be getting more?

Nothing wrong. It's been like that forever and a reported bug.

If you get 10 or more chunks you did it right. If you actually overcharge it you'll only get 2 or 3.

The warning is just a long standing bug.
(ninja'd).

I expect someone somewhere has worked out the fragments per tonne from core mining. I usually get 8 or 9 surface deposits to collect after cracking produces its 9 to 15 chunks. I was surprised to find that they hadn't fixed this "yield exceeded" bug in the time I was away from the game - some things seem to be beyond their perception of "need" - like the lack of a "save as" button in the controls options.

I'm getting 15 most of the time. I just thought that if I were somehow overdoing it (because of that warning) I should be getting 20 or 25 or more. It is a very confusing bug that I would think they would sort of prioritize.
I hadn't realised it was a bug. I haven't done any core mining for ages but the last time I did I think that was the reason (probably along with finding so few Cores) that I left. I thought I was just massively out of practice.

I like to I'm not a whinger ( 😇 ) but there's some real fixes needed for mining.

I seem to be causing some chaos with my BGS work. Essentially, the lines going downwards are the factions from other systems and the ones going up are native to this system. I'm in a war with the, once, controlling faction which will see them crash into third from bottom if I can get a win for the Anarchy faction and hold onto their (very useful) Outpost with a BM and IF. I've got a Player Faction (presumably defunct) that's just hit Pending Retreat and the final non-native faction is ready to be tipped into that state too (both are at 2.4% INF but I'm assuming only one can go into Retreat (or Pending Retreat) at a time?

It looks like I've put a huge effort into this but my play time has been sketchy so far this year, a quiet system really helps!
