Support Pro-Thargoid Relations

Dear Fellow Commanders,

We must stop fighting the Thargoids and start attempting communications with them. We listened to an old man hoping to achieve something by turning on a weapon the Thargoids had already made. Salvation didn't actually make the weapon. All they did was turn it on by converting gaurdian artifacts into a power source the station could use.

If he made it why did we only make one weapon and not multiple? How comes Salvation didn't have a countermeasure in place in case the weapons controls were stolen? How did the weapon backfire in the first place?

Salvation lied and look where it lead him. To his grave. The superpowers believed his lie and look where we are now. Defenseless. The queen took control of surface site which I believe to actually be a space station or capital ship that was meant to be the Thargoids weapon for use in the Thargoid-Gaurdian war, but the gaurdians caught wind of it and destroyed them before they could power them on.

Now is the time for us to attempt to make peace. If we do not act now the thargoids will find a way to power more of these sites... then they will get them into space and begin their attack on the rest of the bubble. We know that some thargoids ask and thank commanders for given them meta-alloys if they are non-hostile to begin with. This means there has to be a way to communicate with them.

Why not give it a go? We already listened to a crazy old man. Why not listen to a crazy commander? What do you have to lose.

I did, I went to HIP 22460 in an unarmed ship to negotiate after the wave went pear shaped, didn't work and I had to run away!

You lot again? You waste people’s time with your clueless promise of jamming Salvation’s weapon, and now you think you’re qualified to communicate with the goids?
Be useful and go back to making crisps…
Julian McCoy said it was an attempt and the scientists are doing big brain things. Your "Salvation" promised you lot the thargoids would be gone. Look where we are now.

I would recommend talking on neutral grounds and not in their nest. I would recommend gifting meta alloys to thargoids that are scavenging wreckages

And yet, we don't know whether our intervention had any effect - the weapon still didn't work. Therefore our goal was achieved, just not necessarily by our own hands.
Still, we have masses of data to pore over about the composition of both energy pulses that were emitted. Quite frankly, I'm fairly excited.

I just hope "team war" realises that after this, it's just not worth it. Peace is always possible and has worked in many places that we've made it work and it continues to work to this day.

Well how about this, since you have obviously made it work before.... Lets arrange a trip so you can solve this through diplomacy? I will personally fly you to them and ensure your safe passage, I will even supply the escape pods for the transfer. I will even bring tea for your tea time diplomatic relations summit... plenty because I am sure you will have an extended stay, seeing as how the galactic termites probably will be none too fond of you.

So far as your tampering of weapon systems, be proud, you have killed many innocents if that is the case. The blood is on your hands, and no amount of 'peaceful' reasoning you have will wash the stains. I am sure if evidence is found to show you, or anyone else were responsible for the loss of life and malfunction of a weapon system... you will be left wishing you were aboard the ship when it went down, as it would be a more pleasant death than what will await.

Tempting as it is to utterly condemn Salvation, there's a problem with this theory. If the Salvation Superweapon project was to be a converted Thargoid installation all along... what exactly did Salvation fire in Consar? There are no Thargoid structures in any of the previous systems where he cleared incursions.

While I'm also of the opinion that Salvation was a genocidal megalomaniac and a liar, there's a missing piece here. I think we need to figure that out if there's any hope of understanding what's going on now.

Look at the California Nebula, our allies maintain that area and there have been no Thargoid attacks against them. Not until the Sirius Corporation moved in, and an immediate attack happened. My faction's assets have also never been attacked, despite being within the danger zones, and directly along the southern frontiers of the bubble.

Most of those in our coalition have also never been attacked, because we do not attack them. Those that continue to attack them are going to make it impossible for any of us to get anything sensible done, because once we are past a point there will be no return. It is people like you that enable that.

He attempted to amplify the power of his weapon via the linked Thargoid surface sites, as they're all linked together - and by extension likely linked to any Thargoid analogue of a communications system. Obviously the Thargoids had other ideas, and he's basically given them the key to being able to assimilate Guardian technology en-masse.

I wonder... If we delivered enough of those relics to the Thargoids, we could enable them to modify further surface sites to destroy Guardian technology in the same way as this one does. Now that would certainly force more people on "team war" to the negotiating table.

But they are not human. We don't have anything in common. If we study Giods physiology, maybe we can turn them in to a new Food source, maybe their meat taste good.
They can't even speak, they just make weird sounds. Humans are clearly more intelligent than they are.

... Their sounds are a form of communication with each one meaning something different.
They even have forms of spectrogram-encoded octal trigram communication which they seemingly designed very specifically for us to understand.

Besides, if you think we're smarter... Why don't we have tractor beam technology, or the incalculably long hyperspace ranges that they seem to have?
We could've had it, but then we decided to try and massacre the species with the only working examples of it, while continuing to complain that we don't have it!

Because they faired in space for million of years, while Humans only few hundred. And as you can see Goids haven't progressed far beyond that of Humans. Humans are much smarter.
This might be a sign of their inability to evolve. They could be just organic machines created by some race to fight in some distant war.
Animals also communicate with sounds, Humans still eat them.

I will take my thargoid medium rare. Perhaps season it with the salty tears of the ones who want peace with the entity that will destroy them without a second thought.

I like how the galnet headline said the thargoids "conquered" hip 22460.
A system that, until a few months ago, had no human presence but did have a thargoid presence.
I'm not sure if it counts as conquest if they were there first.

Otherwise... I dunno about make peace, in the same way that I while don't exactly make peace with a wasp's nest I certainly don't throw rocks at it.

Why do we even need peace? This conflict can unite all Human factions in to a cohesive force. We could form our first Galactic Empire!

I would not think it a good idea to try and communicate with anything while it is angry.
However, you could try and placate them with some occupied escape pods.
I mean, your research is clearly worth more than a few, meaningless human lives, right?

Please explain why all of our assets have remained intact during many waves of incursions, as the dominoes fell down around us? We were directly in the path of danger, and they point-blank veered around us.

Animals also don't fly spacecraft or reverse engineer alien technology to backfire at those using it to try and genocide them.

Once again, the entirety of GalNet is showing its biased human-supremacist mindset, without giving pro-peace or pro-choice voices a chance to actually speak their mind. The rare article of 'The Xenocide Debate' is one of the few instances of them not 'toeing the governmental-approved line'.

An empire built on lies is no empire at all. Unstable foundations lead to the collapse of the buildings they're supporting.

Not as many as Salvation sacrificed in his fruitless plan to commit genocide. My research has no mention of giving escape pods to the Thargoids. However, we do not have the right to complain as we have done the equivalent to them on many occasions, all those stories of INRA dissecting living Thargoids. I'm suggesting a wider effort for peace as a united front, not as a single effort. We have a theoretical understanding of how to make such communications, and even the forms of their octal trigram communication methods, there has just been no effort en-masse to try and use that knowledge.
