I went for the famous bunker mission with couple of friends last night. It was actually lots of fun, especially the gun dynamics and feeling. Much better handling than in Elite in my opinion. The enemy NPC's didn't spawn 2 out of 5 missions we did, but other than that it worked really well and I think it was the first time ever that I actually had lots of genuine fun in Star Citizen.

Encouraged by that experience I logged back in today... only to find out ALL of my gear I found yesterday (literally EVERYTHING) was gone :ROFLMAO:

The vanishing gear thing is a feature

In the 60% of cases where NPC spawned did they move & shoot back, or was it a duck hunt?

Me too. The complaint was founded on incorrect (or out of date?) information. You basically are saving constantly because you're usually in and out of your ship a lot.
The save system never really bothered me. You can't just press ctrl-s but I never had to retrack much. Usually I hate save points, too. But NMS save points aligned quite well with my way of playing.

I'm confused.

That's part of the problem. I don't like NMS's so-called "flight model," so I avoided using ships as much as possible. What I wanted NMS for was to explore worlds, living worlds, with procedurally created life. Living worlds with unique life in caverns and beneath the seas. What I don't want to do is carry around enough resources to build mini-bases every ten minutes when I don't have one of my rare hour-long blocks of guaranteed uninterrupted time to play video games, and those are times when I'd rather spend playing something else.

For me, NMS has a long list of "things I don't like," but it would've lasted longer in my "savable" niche if it had been a truly savable game. Empyrion: Galactic Survival does everything that I wanted NMS to do except procedural life, allows me to design and build ground vehicles as well as space ships that have a proper flight model, and I don't have to endure any of the things I don't like about NMS.

Ah, you never said that you didn't use the spaceship much. Well, you can always slap down a save point whenever you want...

Alternately...

Good thing about moddable games ;)

Can't wait for Star Citizen to be moddable and have private servers!

That explains your dislike. I already assumed you were doing a lot on foot.

Just from listening to the first 2 callers, apparently Australia is keeping the project afloat :ROFLMAO: Bloody traitors

I think that's called a box.

Not this one, I did take out a basic sub many years ago because I thought it had potential, I did the same for Dual Universe, but I would never pay any extra. I mean even if it came out as a released game I wouldn't buy any of those ships for those prices, that's silly money!

I spent some time in the prison last night. That was FUN! Actual, literal fun. This is MUCH better system than Elite's C&P.

I simply failed to stop for an authority scan (was in menus setting up my HOTAS). I closed the menus to the sound of shots being fired at my ship. Panicked, obviously, stopped my ship and then heard "Power down your ship immediately! Or you WILL be destroyed!". That was scary.

I complied and was arrested. Fade to black, woke up in prison cell. I could then sign up for mining job to shorten my sentence, or just wait through it. Chose the former, found the mine entrance and went down there. Hand-mining is nice. There is a minigame that's not very difficult, but engaging enough to pay attention.

Apart from that there is also a "free for all" task to do, and whoever does it first, gets the extra merits and extra reduced sentence. Mine was 1h 45 mins in total. What I gathered in 2 mining runs reduced it to zero. It took me about an hour. I could then use Merits to buy food, drinks, medpens and similar stuff.

I know that you can also run away through a shaft behind a broken fan, but then you're obviously still wanted (which actually generates bounty hunting missions for other players! that's VERY VERY COOL!). So then you have to deal with trying to hack into a police database and erase your criminal record, if you want to be clean. Not sure how that's done, but the concept alone is very nice.

Comparing that to what we have in Elite.. ugh.

Very cool and engaging experience must say. Kudos to CIG for that.

Not really.

SC never will replace ED as my main game, mainly due to the fact that... well, it's not a GAME for starters. And any time investment is a complete and guaranteed write off because of the server wipes. Additionally, there is no game world as such, just one system. I literally am not able to immerse myself in a non-existant game world :D

(BTW a little digression, SC does NOT offer "more to do in one system than Elite in the whole game", I actually made an objective and honest list of features and gameplay loops for both games, because none of the SC fans who claimed the above was able to provide with any solid examples).

I value my time too much to waste it for a broken alpha - and fact that it is still an alpha after 10 years is simply ridiculous and laughable. Majority of the excitement from the dedicated players seems to be coming from the features that "will be in the game at some point", which makes me laugh out loud every single time when I hear that.

So nope. But that doesn't change my opinion that SOME parts that we can compare SC does in a much much better way than Elite. I'll still have ocassional fun with friends in what we have there, because for me SC is most fun for a short multiplayer session. Nothing more than that though really.
