Windows 7 Compatibility

If done right, this could solve a lot of Odyssey performance issues. The main advantage of DX12 over DX11 is better CPU multithreading, and ED could use that. In ground settlements I get CPU bottlenecked, but have only around 50% load on the CPU, which has 8 cores and HT.
you think the problems with odyssey are due to the developers hitting technical limitations of the api they're using. That's cute.

DX12 wont solve anything that's wrong with odyssey. Linux already runs this game under vulkan (which has many similarities with dx12) and it seems highly unlikely you'll get a port (you wont get a port regardless) that does much different than the translation that is going on with dxvk because they're not going to build the rendering pipeline from scratch under the new api.

edit: btw, the performance in linux in odyssey is just as bad in comparison to horizons for the same scenes as you see in windows. There's something like a 30% higher gpu load to hit the same framerate in odyssey for the same scene.

So did I. Managed to get 600kB base memory free with mouse, sound and cdrom drivers loaded, 4dos 4thewin.
Cheater! :p
IIRC it could be done with regular autoexec.bat & config.sys files too.
Even got FE2 to run on my sister's 386SX with DOS 5.0, even if that required 595 kB free conventional memory and 1 MB EMS.

EDIT: that was without the CDROM drivers though...

Seems like it's time to finally move to Windows 8.1. Or Win10 or 11 (which is [unfortunately] recommended).
