How many Headliner animals are left?

In my opinion a lot of animals could be the headliner as the beaver was made a headlining species for example.

But some important headlining species are:
Emu
Kiwi
Baboon
Tasmanian Devil
Dromedary
Sloth
Porcupine
Maned Wolf (in contrast to cats and bears there was no dog headliner until now)
Red Deer
Lar Gibbon (any other ape/monkey)
Wombat

In my opinion they can never run out of headliner animals, because it's a marketing concept that is chosen after the pack has been decided. The marketing team can pick from among the 5 or 8 animals (yes, I can imagine an exhibit animal serving as a headliner), and build their campaign from there.

To be honest, I'm not even able to name all of the past headliners without looking them up. This is because the full roster is revealed at the same time as the headliner. If Frontier had a completely different marketing structure, for example, if they released a roadmap of the next 4 to 8 dlc which only showed the headliners but you only got the rest of the roster a month or a few weeks in advance, or even if they announced their next dlc earlier than they currently do with a sneak peak of only the headliner such that you had to wait to learn the rest of the roster, then I think that the headliner might matter more. But given their current marketing system, and the quick turnaround of a few weeks between initial announcement of the dlc and the drop of the dlc, I don't think the headliner matters much. And certainly isn't a reason to think that the number of packs is in any way limited by the number of headliners.

Even their typical announcement structure downplays the important of a headliner. After all, their first publicity for a new dlc/update isn't the headliner at all. It's one of the elements of the free update (diving, gift shops, educators, etc.).

Red Deer are a bit nicer to me, but that's probably all because I'm American and don't see them. I consider White Tailed Deer too common though, so that's probably an equal animal in terms of being boring or common.
And then you've got me, an American with the opposite take. White-tailed deer are reasonably common in smaller US zoos or those with a dedicated native species section, so I'd be perfectly on board with them. Meanwhile red deer are pretty much nonexistent in US zoos, so I have little interest in them personally. Totally understand why someone would feel the opposite way. Fallow deer actually are super common in non-AZA zoos, though, so I think they truly were the best compromise for a European deer species, since it has realistic uses in many more scenarios.

Really though, and I know this isn't a deer thread specifically so I'm fixating on something tangential, but I think Pére David's deer is hands down the best choice for a fourth deer. It's suitably exotic yet present for everyone, and it tells a story.

Are there any potential headliners left? Off the top of my head,…..

Kiwi, emu, serval, ocelot, coati (any), raccoon, wombat (any) tree kangaroo (any), Tasmanian devil, numbat, yellow-footed rock (or most other) wallaby, maned wolf, toucan (any), bald eagle (or any raptor really), quokka, fossa, aye aye, walrus, greater kudu, giant eland, red river hog, pelican (any), red (or one of several other) deer, lots of monkey species, wolverine, honey badger, quoll, plenty of ground or water birds, puffin, red fox, bighorn sheep, echidna, a leopard subspecies (any), sloth (any), porcupine (any), …. Plenty of others….. TBH I think almost any species could be a headliner.

I'm indifferent on most deer to be honest, the only one I would say I actively sort of want are Wapiti/Elk or Red Deer.... Both iconic and unique species but we only NEED one of them in my opinion, though I would be more than happy to get both!

There is quite a few deer which would be good additions though... Roe Deer, Water Deer, White-Tailed Deer, a Pudu, a Muntjac, Chital, Sika Deer, Pere David's Deer...

I think the only way I could be actively disappointed would be if we got the other species of Fallow Deer :p

Tufted deer would be nice since it’s often kept with red pandas in many zoos. It’s also small, Asiatic and has funky hairdo and fangs.

My biggest dream is Père David’s deer because of their unique looks, aquatic behaviors and very successful conservation story. It’s kept in 63 European zoo’s. Is it capable to be headliner species? I think it is.
There are as many opinions as there are experts 🙃

Red deer is beautiful but I just don’t want 4th common species of deer from Europe.

I can't help saying it once again, but red deer would be the 3rd Asian deer and the 1st African deer in the game, not only the 4th European one :)
Yes and are also pests and harmful to the environment in places like Australia, New Zealand and Argentina...

Since Turkey is in Asia and native population of fallow deers still exist there, red deer would be asian deer number 4.

So entire difference is made by barbary stag in North Africa.
(Fallow deer dont have asia tag in game, right?)

I'm not sure why this thread has just turned into a thread for arguing about the Red Deer and whether it should be added to the game, but I guess I might as well give my own thoughts on this.

While I personally am not European, I can understand the appeal of the species to European audiences, it's one of the most iconic animals from Europe. There's also the fact that the Red Deer is a very majestic and iconic animal, and I feel like it would be fun to build a habitat for it in the game.

That being said, I think the main reason why I want to see this species added to PZ is because it already has decorations for it in the game. This also applies to the Black Rhino and Dromedary, which I'd like to see added as well. As someone who cares a lot about consistency, having decorations for animals that aren't in the game just bothers me. Logically it doesn't make sense. If you've already gone through the effort of creating in-game decorations for a species, especially one that would fit into the animal roster perfectly fine, then why would you choose to exclude it from the game? It makes that species seem like it's "missing" when it otherwise wouldn't seem that way.

I don't know, maybe I'm just nitpicking here, but I think it's just weird to include a Red Deer statue in the game if there's no Red Deer. It's just a small inconsistency, but it still bothers me a lot.

We are arguing for sake of it. PZ community would be boring without it. Just posting animal wishes and some bugs? Nah.
We have to make things spicy.
Thank you for your contribution.

Maybe, for the game's anniversary this year, we'll get all the animals we already have props for in game but that aren't in yet for some reason:

Dromedary
Red deer
Black rhinoceros

Never, ever ever, sorry to crush that hope, but 1. besides the black rhino they would all defenetly need to much work, 2. the rhino and deer thread the ground of dlc animals, devaluing those dlcs in the process and 3. one clone and one shop in one year and nothing in the other makes it very clear that we would never get more then one animal, if one at all.

I don't know about too much work, but they would indeed step on DLC grounds and I doubt we'd get 3 animals at once. Maybe if they were for a small price? 4 euro for these 3 animals?
