Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

So, are you suggesting that I may need some materials?

I really do wish you'd stop being so cryptic and just say what it is you want to say. ;)
No, I think he is saying you will need many many materials of the sorts only obtained while on foot.

I wouldn’t know as I have only got access to the first on foot engineer as for what I do on foot my collection of shop bought suits and equipment is fine.

Just out of curiosity...

What are you guys "working" on at present?

I've just hauled my sorry behind to
Seos (yay, I got learned in scooping) so I can hop back and forth to
Sothis for Sirius Corp faction.

I'm just interested so it gives me ideas for future ventures.

O7

(although I now prefet "The Rimmer" - @@@O7 - brilliant :D )
At the moment, I have set up camp in Ballard Survey / Suhte.
I am working as a courier in the region, with a side of exploring added in.
This already gave me an "allied" rank with Canonn, and many of the other regional factions also like me...
Which doesn't keep some individuals from sending goons in 'Condas after me, from time to time. But I've found a good way to get away from them... They only once had the satisfaction to hear my little AspX pop... 😒 Since then, they only got to hear the angry shouting of their contractor for failing. 😁

I discovered another white dwarf. And then another in the next system, as well. I'm on a roll! lol

What a lonely feeling this world had, so dim and empty. There were geysers and supposedly bacteria, but I didn't find the bacteria. I didn't look very hard, it was too dark.

I just found out that you can only get suit upgrades and engineering for suits there, so I'll not be doing that. Shame too. I was just getting into it, but it's nowhere near worth the 450 jumps it would take to go out there and the 450 to get back.
They do do weapons as well... e.g. https://inara.cz/elite/engineer/37/

First disco'd this system. Thought I'd pay a visit to an exo planet. Appears I've not been here, sector wise, before as I'm getting codex entries \o/

But Pioneer supply can do the upgrades, though, right? I have all my stuff grade 3 except my original artemis suit for nostalgia's sake.

It's not a shame; collect the materials for later just like with ship upgrades. I enjoyed locating the storebought upgrades and they are a better starting position at grade 3, some with one useful preengineering as well, for later. It's rewarding to feel the difference as you go 1-2-3 and I assert you will learn better by not relying on the high end gear while learning. We may differ on this. Good luck and I look forward to hear of your exciting missions and.. have you tried perhaps a trip to the Frontlines Solutions desk?

So I've been, on this note, collecting materials casually and starting to have an upgrade in sight to grade 4 on my pea-15-shooter. Looking foward to it being the most threatening P-15 ever some day! ha ha. I got it storebought with extra headshot damage too but it's still easier to unload it at their body at least til the shields go down then try n cap em. FUN.

Alright!

My new found method of setting up mouse to control ship yaw meaning I was able to start hitting things with railguns recently just translated in destroying 3 hearts on a Thargoid Interceptor for the first time. It bust up the Chief pretty bad, but a ship reboot brought thrusters and FSD back online to make the jump. I limped back to the carrier (with a loop of shame) with no canopy on emergency oxygen just as acid was about to take the last 1% of the hull. I must have made it with 1 or 2 seconds to spare. No, I didn't kill the Thargoid Interceptor which I assume was a Cyclops, but hey, small steps.
It feels like a victory to me.
I could get to like this.
I didn't get to take out the swarm, which is way tougher than hitting a Thargoid heart.

I did some assassinations out here in the boonies last night and this morning, and feel like staying in system a while. Never have. Except for trips to jail. I'm taking advantage of being within an Apex ride of jail. And the skies, the neubla skies, ahhh..

Except these three are done seeing that. Though, #3 shoulda called for help instead of approaching me though; but it seemed like my cover was blown for sure there upon the scan (I thought I was clean, the thumbs up was no ruse, haha). I was surprised as they were to win the gunfight without setting the alarm off! Oh yeah it was covert assassination!

Jump. Wait 18 minutees. Jump, wait 18 minutes.Jump...

I suppose I should break this up with some exploration but I'm impatient to reach my destination :D

I'll never go to Sag A* with this tood!
I thought it was 5 minutes cool down and 15 minutes jump preparation. How are you getting this down to 18 minutes?
Colonia to Sag A* is less than 100 jumps with a 70ly jump range ship. Might be less if you use Neutron Highway. It's 'only' 100 minutes each way.

I went there in my carrier. It was a long trip for sure.

I put the game on my second computer and every now and then I'd remember to go make a jump. It was not "exploring." It was "getting there."

I don't regret it, I had fun at the destination, and I did explore on the way back. But it sure burned a lot of Tritium.
